Police have seized five 9-MM pistols and ammunition during an anti-drug operation in Newtown during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The police say a full report of the seizure will be made later on Tuesday.

The incident took place on the heels of the seizure of high-powered weapons in the community of Silver Lake.

During that operation, an Ak-47, an Uzi Submachine Gun, two 9-mm and assorted ammunition were seized.

Cocaine and marijuana were also taken by the police.

More info on this latest gun seizure will soon be published.

From whence come all these guns nor…It would appear that our founding fathers down there left us a second amendment as those up here, in the U.S.
The right to bear arms..The only thing it appears to be for one group only…the crooks….

With what the police got in the past, in the present and will in the future, they will be enough to give each D/can one.
How these guns got into Dominica? They came from somewhere. What are they doing with all these guns? Do they want to start a war and kill off every D/can? I am certain there are some more out there in Dominica.
Examine the guns and tag them as you do. Make note of their serial numbers. Check with some police departments of the islands; no exception US and Canada since guns are stolen from those countries and sent to other countries.
I hope the owners of these guns will be caught.

Dominica needs to have Police Checkpoints all over the Island.

Would be a good idea but for the manpower (woman power) and it will cost an exorbitant sum. They are doing what they can and very well under the circumstances, trying to protect Dominicans, law-abiding ones at that.

The answers to your questions shall come ,patience is virtue. What really matters in a gun is the trigger, and everyone of them trigger has a serial number on the trigger. We shall know who produce them, and who sold them to whom, getting to Dominica, your guess is as good as mine, but, not by plane I can assure you. some one locked up in a prison overseas, give us the information so that they may grant bail. co-co me gwave

Great work on the part of the police.

Many of these gun take downs were intended to be drug busts. Finding guns along with the drugs is the icing on the cake. We’re waiting to get the full story to see if the police found drugs.

Who buys guns from an illegal dealer?

People who would not qualify to purchase a gun from a licenced gun dealer.

People who plan to use the gun to commit a crime so they cannot be traced.

Drug addicts because they bought “bad stuff” and are angry enough to seek revenge.

Drug dealers who want protection against thieves, disgruntled customers, or competitive dealers.

Thank God these guns from Newtown are out of circulation, at least for awhile.

Those who sell drugs will sell guns. Both are illegal and both are harmful. Drugs and guns go hand in hand. They belong to the culture of death.

Those who receive Christ as their Savior are delivered from both and need neither! :-D

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Bruh what about all those christians in the US who swear by their right to bear arms? Let me guess – they aren’t REAL christians right? What about alchohol and cigarrettes? I know many christians who use both. Oh right they’re not illegal so they’re not as bad right?

Dominica government and it’s law enforcement must continue to ensure these lawless habits of trading drugs for guns by its citizens who are currently using these weapons in robbing business places and individual s their hard earned money is unacceptable. Dominicans, you should be proud of the efforts the police officers performing in defusing a major problem in this small island state. There still those who oppose the police work until their relatives become victims. Keep in mind guns are manufactured for one reason Killing. Good job guys in enforcing the law.

Some of you Dominicans are very short sighted, and it comes off as being ignorant, you will NEVER drop the crime rate with no job creation. So stop acting like they’re making a dent on crime when the government is not doing anything to stop crime from being the only avenue to make some money!

      February 23, 2016

If you don’t commit crimes they will very unlikely come at you. Further, by legal mandate they can consider anyone suspicious and have the right to search or even detain you if they believe you are a threat to peace or the state. STOP looking for excuses to break the law and you will be a happier person not having to constantly watch your back.

      Always Assertive!

The police have to tackle the big papas who sit on their thrones but the small fishes for a few pieces of silver.

Well done law officers. Continue to hunt down these vagabonds and rogues like they ought to be hunted.

    • February 24, 2016

Those vagabonds are product of the bigger drug dealers, who hide behind businesses and senior …. positions.
Why are we oblivious to the facts.
“Those vagabonds” as was labeled in Silver Lake have no education, no jobs, where do you think they got the money to invest in the illicit trade. They are the tip of the icebergs.
At drug bust at Silver Lake, no drugs or a street value totaling 10,000EC.
The 2.5 million drug lords, who are repeatedly offenders, have never been to jail, never had their property search-why?
In order to eradicate drug trafficking in Dominica, we have to destroy the drug lords, the government and police know where they are.

Blows… do it like Taiwan, if you’re a juvenile and you break the law is canning… & blows, blows blows you getting. At least they will not get a criminal record which would prevent them from getting employment when they smarten up… but they will get the blows their parents didn’t give them.
