No arrests yet in airport equipment fire

police investigationNo arrests have been made following a suspected arson which destroyed a communication tower two miles from the Douglas-Charles Airport in Marigot recently.

This is according to Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent Claude Weekes.

It is reported that that several equipment were damaged or destroyed during the fire.

Damages were placed at $2-million.

“We are still investigating the matter…no one has been formally charged or arrested for it,” Weekes told DNO.

Operations at the airport were not disrupted since a back up system had kicked in.

Maybe it was just a smoke screen that evaporated on December 8th. You know smoke feeds off fire, if there’s no fire smoke gets the hell out.

Ok, $2 mil. worth of equipment damaged and the airport still functional. So I checking maybe they should replace it with $1 mil worth of equipment and save a million. What allu checking?

But the Prime Minister told the nation he knows who set the fire, so how the hell does ASP Weeks tell us that the Police do not know?

Skerit said he knows who set the fire, why don’t they arrest themselves?

  9. The Fact
    December 19, 2014

Why is it taking so long to investigate and to apprehend someone or some people? Surely, this was a secured area which was under an employee’s supervision. Are you being hush hush about what you found out?

Skerrit said he knew, so he must have been an accessory to the crime. If it was Lennox Linton Tony Astaphan would have send the police to arrest him and ransack his house.

Do you all know that in dominica , we have our own unsolved mysteries ? there are lots of them and if we were to have a television program it would run for a long time.( years)

    • The Fact
      December 19, 2014

Call A @ E Television, US. They could be able to help in these unsolved mysteries in Dominica. There was a time I would view A @ E’s program including the cold cases. They are shocking but interesting. Recently I had a conversation with someone about one of A @ E’s program. Some of them were cases which were solved.

No one has been formally charged or arrested for it” as per Insp. Weekes. Does that mean that someone has been informally charged or arrested? A very curious turn of phrase from Mr. Weekes.

    • The Fact
      December 19, 2014

They probably has a suspect, not yet arrested as they continue the investigation.

  15. December 18, 2014

Fellow Dominicans , Didn’t I hear the prime minister say at one of his meetings that he knew who did it ????????????? Didn’t he also tell his massive crowd that they knew who did it ????? So how is it that the police cannot make a brake through? Is it that the police cannot trust their prime minister??? or are they afraid of him ?

But if I would have my way I would hold Benoit Bardoullle responsible for incompetence. You cannot tell me that he can have police protecting criminals and harassing Dominicans who he believes are not supporters of the Labor party. and an important aspect of the security of the airport is left unattended?

    December 18, 2014

Dominicans, mark my words. Once the Police investigations of that criminal offence would point to certain untouchables in our peaceful Dominica, such an unthinkable, calculated, criminal enterprise will go unpunished. No arrests. No charges. No court case. It’s not the first time.

That criminally-minded culprit failed, in his/her wickedness, to have the patriots implicated or arrested in that airport equipment fire. Our consciences are as clear as crystal. Those who planned and executed that abomination continue to be stressed out.

But what is the status of the investigations of the firebombing of two innocent Dominican elders? Since Christmas eve Dec. 2010, oui that crime took place? Magway sa. Investigations stalled. But Dominicans know why. We are no fools.

You all can never sleep soundly, knowing the crime that you committed, setting fire to the airport communication equipment, in the attempt to have the patriots dragged to the courts or/and face jail. The criminals under stress.

Who set that fire? The truth will be found out. Run but you can’t hide for ever. Your evil ways will bring your own demise.

      • The Fact
        December 19, 2014

Under the circumstances, during election time, anyone could have made that comment. There is suspicion to that effect. Keep in mind the demonstration which was to take effect at the airport but was called off.

  19. December 18, 2014

This is a serious matter so but a reward for the public.

  20. December 18, 2014

Keep investigating who did this acted most brought to justice, and you guys should put a reward out there if you guys serious about this investigation.

Badwell said One Million and Skeritt doubled it a few hours later !We need to know who got it wrong!
I noticed to that Badwell stooped short of telling us if there was forced entry or did the perpetrator have a key ?
We also want to know if the equipment was outdated and that the new equipment was already on order or may have been even already at the port

What investigation, this was faulty and old electrical wiring but SKERRIT SAID HE KNEW WHO DID IT.

    • The Fact
      December 19, 2014

Do not be surprised that it could be assumed it was faulty wiring. Do you really believe that? If it is so, it surely is a coincidence.
We do not know. Anything to hide the culprits and deceive the people.

Skerrit said he had info. If he aint give info why not arrest him for witholding information of a crime.

    • tayiana
      December 18, 2014

I agree. In many cases in the States once someone utters one word that they have info, that’s it for them. They are taken into custody and questioned and even looked at as a suspect. So our police force is poor and is just party centered instead of country cencentered

      • The Fact
        December 19, 2014

They or some of you would not think of incriminating him? It was election time and you know what occurred at that time which I need not repeat nor elaborate. His words are understandable.

      • LawieBawie
        December 19, 2014

How do you know that he hasn’t already given up that information and that the police have not already acted upon it? The information which he has may not necessarily be as productive as he wanted and therefore the police will have to keep looking for more clues.

      • Titiwi
        December 20, 2014

Mmmm, does that make Skerrit a person of interest?
