Police has confirmed the death of a Grand Fond man following an accident, which police PRO, ASP Claude Weekes, said took place in Corona.
According to Weekes, on Wednesday April 22, at about 7:15 pm, Wilson Casimir, 46, of Castle Bruce was traveling from Roseau to his community when he collided with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian was later identified as Clifton Abraham of Grand Fond.
Abraham was transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where he was admitted with “serious” injuries to the head and legs.
He later succumbed to his injuries.
On Friday Abraham’s relatives told DNO that they had not received information from the police on the accident and are demanding an investigation.
However, Weekes said now that he has received information on the matter, the family will be informed.
what’s the point of this pic DNO.
like really?
RIP cliftion
Our family has not heard from Mr. Wilson Casimir. He has not come to us to offer any words of any kind. No words of sorrow, nor condolences. Clifton was a human being, not an animal. Yes, it was an accident, but for Mr. Wilson to have not come to us, four days, after the accident to show any signs of remorse is sickening. He was driving at night, with one headlight, for crying out loud. Driving in Dominica, of all places, with one working headlight, was just asking for trouble, and unfortunately, Clifton lost his life because of it. God is in control, we leave everything to him. Rest in peace Clifton. You were loved and you will be greatly missed.
Very sad I feel for him his family and the driver.
Mr. Weekes we would not only like to be informed of the death which we have yet to hear from you or the department about, but we would also like to know when will we know more about the driver of the vehicle. We have yet to see his face expressing his sympathies neither to provide us with answers. Clifton deserves answers. His death can’t be pushed aside like he was a nobody. He was somebody. He belonged to a family that cared and expressed their concerns even though they were pushed aside by the ones in authority. So please Mr. Weekes I ask that we hear more about the driver and how it all happened to claim my cousin’s life. Keep resting peacefully Tabou. You are at peace now.
Sloppy police PR. You don’t release info to the press without confirming that next of kin are informed! DNO does a fabulous job but the onus is on the Police PR to do his job right! Shame.
Sorry may he R.i.P.
