A Stockfarm man is in Police custody on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Chester Vidal, 30, of Cork Street, Roseau.
The police said Vidal was allegedly stabbed in Pottersville, at about 1:00 pm on January 14th, 2016. He then walked to the PMH, where he was seen by a doctor and admitted.
He succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at around 3:55 pm.
A post-mortem in that matter will be convened and investigations are ongoing, the police said.
As said before i also went to newtown primary school with him from grade 1 to 7 RIP my friend
Dominicans, it is time to put politics aside and demand proper medical care at the hospitals.
Since you all cannot afford to go to the US on
passport money.
How can and why should someone get admitted to the main hospital for a stab wound sustained on
January 14 and died 2/9/16.
Almost a month after?
i remember when he used to come by my father transport and i used to buy at least a bread and sodar fr him we used to make jokes and laugh…its all gone RIP….even if u did wrong things ik god forgives u and u are in a better plave right now
I have just read through the comments and I am sad because no one deserves to have his life shortened that way. I am however baffled by the ignorance of my people. Do some research before you talk. Someone can die from a particular injury not just days or months, but years later. Stop the ignorance research. get information, then talk.
First of all DNO, Chester is 35 years old. I know him because we went to primary school together so get your facts straight. Second of all you don’t know what the cause of death is until there is an autopsy done. You’ll need to do better than that. You a news agency for gods sake. Smh
ADMIN: We are reporting information as given to us by the police. If you have a problem with the information, we suggest you contact the police.
All of all you people that making bad remarks….. Hope your time come wouldn’t die horrible …….. Doe matter how sum one be never make marks after their death…….. Say it in the person face
Why did the police take so long to arrest the man who did the s tabbing?
IS DOMINICA A LO AWLESS COUNTRY?
My heart goes out to his family and friends. May the Father guide and protect them in this time of pain. One love
The question is; Did the gentleman die as a direct result of the stabbing or because of improper care or medical negligence? A good lawyer will get that man off scott free if medical negligence is proven. Remember the case where I believe Mickey Bruney’ dad died from an accident and the guy was charged with Causing Death By Dangerous Driving?
The astute Lawyer from St. Lucia (Alberton Richielau- the only lawyer Tony fraid) got them off on a similar argument. Let me see what the post mortem says because we all know that PMH doh even have phensic or cafenol for headache so how are they going to take care of a serious stab wound? Ask Charlo, Tim-tim and Reggie about the capabilities of hospital (not staff) and you will get the picture. Not even boe-boes can be treated right due to a lack of medicines (not expertise).
Always Assertive!
Boy oh boy! I used to see Mr in Roseau every day and all he would ask me is a sprite and never asked for money. Cannot believe he just lose his life like that. RIP soldier.
THE STINKING SCENT OF MALPRACTICE! !
Mister use to make people life so miserable
Rest In Peace. May your family get justice on Earth.
This story has loopholes. The man was in Town last week. How do they know he succumbed from the injuries if autopsy is only carried out on Thursdays.?
DNO please rewrite.
This guy was on the troublesome side. But it is a sad way to die, and so young. We never know when our turn will come. Live peaceably and with love Dominicans. RIP young man.
R.I.P Chester just found out ur real name only knew u by Dema.whatever caused this no one deserves to die from being wounded,I wont judge but your life wasnt worthless, wish you’d had a chance to improve yourself cause you were not an idiot
R.I. P my friend more jokes from u so sad
Chester i am soo sorry this happened, you were my friend from since goodwill sec, u never once past each other straight. i am in tears right now, did not even know u were in hospital. soo sorry, RIP my partner.
There should be an investigation into his treatment at the hospital. The stabbing occurred on January 14th and he died from his injury on February 9th? There has to be some negligence in the chain of events/treatment he received. With a stab wound, generally the death will occur within minutes or hours if the situation is not controlled and stabilized immediately. Dying a month after the wound was sustained and while under the care of a group of physicians and nurses; the wound was not the cause of death. Improper care and failure to monitor and recognize the change in the patient over the course of nearly a month is a huge case of improper care and negligence by the people who were charged to care for the patient. No one should die from a stab wound and month later while in the care of capable doctors. Everybody missed something one this one.
#OLD #OneLoveDominicans!
Upon reading the article these were my exact thoughts.
You don’t know the extent of the injuries the stabbing might have caused. Even in state of art hospitals people die of injuries days and weeks after. We are dealing with doctors and nurses who are hu!man beings. They are not miracle workers. They are only help as far as their knowledge , skills and resources allow them too.
Before you make such an ignorant and bias comment, get some information as to what internal injury the stabbing might have caused, what organ that probably got damaged. Remember only God work miracles, stop putting total trust in men and try seeking the Most High.
I find this really strange.
you mean he died after about three weeks?
What kind of care did he receive at the hospital?
If someone survive a stab wound for all tbese weeks ut see m s lime he d I d not get proper dare.
BUT WHAT KIND OF HOSPITAL IS THAT.
I hope the family sues the government.
That is ridiculous.
“hospitals in the sky”
this is chester’s sister he lost a kidney, his spleen and cut intestines had been taken to the operating theatre twice, given blood three times. his injury were extensive.
wow i really not seeing him again way papa R.I.P
Chester I do not know you personally. Have seen you on the streets. Unfortunately you use to greet me making a ‘break’ . R.I.P. Sad to know how you died. You are in a better place.
Chester can’t believe u gone dawg but life goes R.I.P to damar
Am no doctor but if the stab wound was that serious it would not take a month for him to die. Cause of death if it is an anyway linked to the stabbing rests on some medical practitioner at PMH
Both the stabbers and the medical practitioners are to be held responsible. The initial reason for needing medical care was inflicted by the stab wounds. By the way, you are only partially correct but the law books make provision for the same for “up to one year and a day after the incident” so your one month analysis make you seem appalled but a month is nothing.
U are soo right!! You are NOT a Doctor!!! Afus allu think medicine is a flipping walk in the park!!! Ignorant fools.. Read up!!! Educate yourself!! Smh
But if the man could walk to the hospital from Pottersville doesn’t that give the impression that he was not seriously wounded? No ambulance service? Not even police could transport him to the hospital? Sounds like negligence on the side of the authorities aswell as poor medical service at the PMH. Don’t understand how a wounded man was able to walk to PMH and be admitted for almost a month before he died. The fact that he died almost a month later how could the guy be charged for murder? A, b., c case for lawyer
I understand where you are coming from and i am undecided; however, if he was not stabbed, he would not be dead. therefore, the person who ALLEGEDLY stabbed him, MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE under the law for causing his death.
And whether the hospital was negligent with his care while in the capable hands of the PMH health providers, they will have to give a full account. and if found negligent, its about time someone did something about the care given to patients at the PMH…
Best he had stayed at his home. All that time in hospital for a stabbing and eventually dying. I would look into the hospital and see what went wrong.
On the basis of all the inconsistencies on the side of the police, I don’t see how they can get a conviction here. First, the incident took place on Jan. 14. Secondly, the stabbed man walked to the hospital. No ambulance, no police accompanied him to ensure evidence was not tampered with. 3. He was admitted at PMH for three weeks, before he died at PMH on Feb. 9th. That looks like an easy case for an attorney to defend. If the one in custody was charged for wounding I could understand it, but for murder? Very weak.
2 weeks ago in Grandbay, a police officer allegedly shot Craig Thomas to death although according to the police , Thomas died at the health center. Bloggers said the officer could not be charge for murder because he died at the health center, although he died the same day. In this case he died 26 days later at the PMH? I think poor health service must be blamed here because after 26 days, they had enough time to send him abroad if they didn’t think they could help…
It might not be such an easy case as you think. Someone can be charged with murder if the victim dies. Murder charge stands even if the individual has died a month later with complications related to the stabbing. In actuality you the stabber needs to pray that the victim doesnt die within “a year and a day” later.
What happened in Grand Bay cannot be compared to this incident. The officer was threatened on his premises. and from what was reported it is clear that there was no intention to cause death when the officer defended himself. Law or rational does not pick or choose one aspect of an incident to create a scenario or come to a conclusion.
The man walked to PMH on January 14th and died February 9th…….couldn’t they save this man’s life? This hospital, the country and the people needs a wake up call.
The man stayed at PMH for 26 days, then succumbed to his injuries? Awah!! Something is not right with this. The man must have succumbed to something else; not the injuries. Probably he got an infection while at PMH.
I DONT KNOW THAT GUY TO BE A TROBLE MAKER EHH!!! AWA MAGWAY SAH
Since in newtown mister paro but RIP. Sad vibes!!!!
aye that hit me hard Chester… Your life may not have been what everyone who knew you wanted it to be but that gives no one the right to take it away. I pray that the perpetrator is tried to the fullest extent of the law and never sees the light of day outside the walls of the prison. May your soul find rest my dear.
PMH TO HOPELESS
Who ever did the stabbing is hopeless, that what you should condemn, sot.
I agree with you, this is pure nonsense.
