Police InvestigationPolice are carrying out investigations into the death of Education Officer, Frank Newton, 58 of San Sauveur.

Public Relations Officer (PRO), Acting Superintendent Claude Weekes told state-owned DBS Radio that Newton was found hanging at his girlfriend’s house located at Laudat on Monday.

He said that the incident is alleged to have occurred between 8:00am and 9:30 am.

oh my God. this is so sad. i remember Frank coming to my workplace and saw me teasing me about giving his son gp.. oh my, Frank made me laugh so much that day. you will forever be remembered. May your soul rest in eternal peace.
Glory be to God i have something to remember you by. I was traveling (2013) and Frank saw me and gave me a christian baby book to record everything single thing about my baby. so thankful for it. He was such a good man and will always be remembered this way.
To his children (melburn, alburn and mahidi) hold on strong. to the newton family God is with you through this hard time.. just have faith and believe in him…

I want to extend my sympathy to all those of you who knew Frank well enough to love his frankness, his sometimes brutal honesty, along with his passion for science and generous spirit. To his family members, especially the children-, my heart pains with yours…Valerie-you just buried dad now brother. Working with Frank was great…He gave his all when he was in a good frame of mind…he will be remembered for the many Science Fairs and dedication to education.
I am saddened by this news!

And for those of you that have not entered into HIS rest. May I remind you that, you’re living in a spiritual world. If you do not have a personal relationship with HIM, you’re walking in darkness and do not know what you’ll stumble upon today or tomorrow. So be careful when commenting . Other than entering into HIS rest, for those who are pulling it through,it’s then only by HIS grace. For HIS grace,HE extends to all. Salvation, to those who seek HIM and ask,and allow HIM to be the Lord of their life.
Seek ye first the kingdom of GOD. Matt. 6:33

    (Lol) $100 Road Maintenance Tax..
You said that, you’re fed up. I hope you’re not going to end your life over that. It dose not at all worth it. Here we go,sell the vehicle and walk the exercise will do you a great deal of good,it will also help with the stress.
And for those of you who think that having Phd’s, Master’s and Doctor rate exempts one from the barrages of life. You better thing again. He’s certainly not the first and he certainly won;t be the last. Here in the U.S it’s happening far more than it’s reported. And it’s by folks of all walks of live. But I noticed more so people that are actors, musicians and those with good paying jobs.
Only one thing that can protect a person fully from such mess. It’s to enter into the rest that YESHUA (JESUS) is offering. Truly when HE gives you rest,it dose not matter how furious the storms of life get around you, they just can’t move you.

Makes you feel good to believe that Jesus takes care of it all does it not. I understand your need to believe so. Only one thing – this is simply a myth.

My family and I were strangers in a strange land when Frank met us and invited us to his home. He was a jovial and generous host who treated us like royalty. This is the Frank we remember. I believe that when our lives are over Almighty God does not scrutinize our lives because He is keen to punish us for our sins. Instead, He examines our lives carefully to see what good we have done to see if there is any way He can have mercy on us. So let it be with Frank. May this testimony of Frank’s spontaneous kindness to me and my family count towards his salvation.

Frank was always an out spoken and jovial guy. Like most of us I think something happened to him recently that caused him to take a wrong turn and we are now seeing the permanent results. To the Newton family hold strong and let God lead the way. Please don’t believe these silly beliefs that once you cause your own death you go to hell. For no one knows the way of your lord, for the lord will be our judge through the infinite knowledge and wisdom possessed.

I too would like to add my voice of sympathy at the huge sadness of this tragedy. Frank was a former student of mine and a relative. He was such a bright man with a sparkling mind and always with a pleasant greeting even in his moments of stress. May all the powers be with him in this unknown part of his journey; and may his family and friends and all of us find solace and encouragement to extend to each other the warmth of sympathy and compassion, knowing that as humans we are all vulnerable in one way or another and that we can make things better by caring more for one another.

I will miss Frank dearly! I loved his candid, yet beneficial advising. When I was in Dominica, he gave me full access to his garden; and even brought me and my son goodies from Roseau.
I can only imagine what his final minutes were like; the decision, the pain, the tiredness, and the lonliness. I wish I could be there for him. I would tell him that we all struggle with something; some spiritually, others physically, and many psychologically.None of us are exempt from life’s unfairness; sadly we all get a dosage at some point.

Don’t know what drove him to this but we all know that Dominica is tough, Frank rest in peace, may you find peace Frank.

Knew Frank from high school days and would like to extends my heart felt sympathy to his family and friends. Based on what i have read , I think this is an opportunity for a dialogue on mental illness. Frank’s passing would be in vain if we as a people do not start the conversation. This appears to have been a troubled man without a good support system. Depression is real and too often there is a stigma.

  19. August 10, 2015

“Rest in peace” would mean that a person has gone to his or her grave with a soul that is alive in Jesus Christ. And yet it is so difficult to think that a person who is alive in Jesus Christ would even think of committing suicide–good Lord! Why do they do that?

Anyway to the family and friends of this man, it is not an easy situation which you are facing now-this is very, very sad. But think in your minds that you have the peace of God–the energy of the spirit–to take you through this difficult situation.

I pray that you have the strength, which you need, to build abiding faith in God, remember that He is your Shelter in this stormy blast; He will show you where you must go from here.

My deepest sympathy to his family. Take heart. God is with you, comforting you. He sees your sorrow.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “I will never forget you My people. . . .” Be consoled.
Let us be confident in God that his soul is resting in peace from all the turmoils of this world that he encountered.
    God is love!
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

Really break my heart. A man with 3 masters and almost a PHD was struggling so much , it is very sad . I hope that people learn form what just happen to a good man like frank . I am saying that because i know him very personally and he has relate a lot of his disappointments with the way he was treated at work , pain and other struggles etc. to me , but i just won’t go into public details.learn to treat people better while they are here with us , not when they die we want to gather and mourn , celebrate lief with them instead.People will say oh frank was m… but he wasn’t he was a victim of our society.’May his soul rest in peace now . We have lost a great mind. MY husband always said to me , boy frank good in his science and i will always remember that.

Treat others well. This is the teaching of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The same applies on this Website.
Life could be difficult to bear. We know it is not easy. It is tough. Everyone is undergoing some sort of burden, even at work. People have to be strong in spirit to withstand it.
We must be compassionate about what occurred to him. God is the Judge.
If only he had given his sorrows to the Lord in prayer. If we just think what Our Lord went through to his crucifixion, eventually, there will be a silver lining.
Faith, hope and trust in God. Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Divine Mercy said to a nun, Sister Faustina Kowalska of Poland, now departed and is Saint Faustina: “Trust in Me and Me alone.”
You can purchase the book, “Divine Mercy In My Soul.” It is a great, holy book for everyone in general. We can learn much from it, how to love and serve the Lord, love people and to live in holiness, at peace with others and obtain the ultimate goal, Heaven.

Sad story. I am saddened by this tragic way he left us. He was in pursuit of peace that unfortunately he could not find on this side. A great Brother to so many. He made his mark on the education landscape.

I encourage us to be more responsive to the plight of others. There are always signs. If we can’t help please get help to those who are very burdened. Life is meaningful only in the context of how we share it with others.

You should say, “May his soul rest in peace.” God is his judge. We never know what transpired between him/his soul and God when he made the transition from life to death.
God knew what he was going through.
Some of you do not believe that God created Purgatory where souls that are not bad enough for Hell and not yet ready for Heaven will make atonement.
The true story goes that in the ancient days a man committed suicide by throwing himself over a bridge into the water. His wife was distraught. She feared his soul went to Hell. She went to confession to a holy priest and poured out her concerns. He told her: “His soul is in Purgatory. Between the bridge and the river he asked God for pardon.”
Never underestimate God, his love, compassion, mercy and forgiveness”
This is why we Catholics pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and give Holy Masses for them.
Keep in mind, God is the Judge. Not human beings and according to their mentality.

God knows everyone has frailties. We must not play God.
He obviously did not die immediately. Even after he was hanging, prior to dying, he could have realized his error and asked God for pardon.
If everyone says he was a nice person, there is hope.
I have so much to share with you and of what I read which really occurred and are documented in books.
Granted, we are not to take our life. In brief, God will outweigh the good and bad he did. If the good outweighed the bad, rest assured he will be saved. This should be consoling.
Whenever anyone dies, no matter how and if our conscience tells us to say “Rest in peace”, we should. The Holy Spirit inspires.
This is why some of us say, “I pray that God had mercy on his soul.” It all lies in God and with him.

Another unique Soul has departed under unfortunate circumstances…

Frank Newton you demonstrated to the Gachette family in Soufriere the true sense of family love and your demise has left a void behind and a broken Auntie Avouette Gachette (95 years old) – the lady you also regarded as your Mother. Your close bond and keen friendship with my cousin Freddie Gachette – from DGS days early to middle 1970s has taught me a real lesson about the value/purpose of true friendship. You remembered me when I visited in February this year… how can I ever forget the abundance of fruits and vegetables you constantly supplied me from your parents’ estate.

To your suviving Mother, siblings, family & friends our deepest sympathy goes out to you folks, as Frank was a treasure to the Gachette family and above all his long lasting friendship with Freddie who’s so broken and hurting by the sad news of his demise.

You’ll always be remembered by us and long may your legacy rein!

As someone mentioned before, he was very proud of his cousin Major Frederick Newton and talked about him all the time at school. On a few occasions I accompanied Frank to the Defense Force Headquarters to visit him. Frank was devastated when his cousin was executed by hanging by the stat despite pleas to save his life by many including Amnesty International and the Catholic church. I am not sure if Frank ever got over this tragedy of his family.

Since his twin brother, Franklyn, died many years ago, Frank has been exhibiting signs of instability to the extent many who knew him thought his had a mental illness. I knew him reasonable well from his days in the Dominica Cadet Corps. I think his family may have had too many tragedies (remember the impact that the hanging of Major Frederick Newton had on him).

We do not need any politics in this time of our grieving. If you cannot say anything good especially if you did not know our beloved please keep your comments to your self. Thank you.

Hold strong. I know the feeling but Fear of God will pull you through. Find something you love and bury yourself in it. The world is a harsh place but you have got to be strong. Pray, pray pray. The almighty father listens and he will help you through whatever you’re going through.

Also, simple and short words to keep saying as, “Jesus have mercy on me. Jesus help me” will do. It provides much comfort and peace.
