Showdown Mas Camp will open its doors for the first time this calypso season from 8.30 pm at the Harlem Plaza on Friday night and organizers are promising a packed and on-time show.

Mas Camp manager, Daryl Bobb, told Dominica News Online that about 20 calypsonians, including one newcomer, will hit the stage.

“Things are looking pretty good. So far there aren’t any issues,” he said. “We are not grappling with any unforeseen circumstances, so things are good.”

Some of these calypsonians include: Triumph, King Dice, Leona Peters, Young Bull, Vigilante, Pick lock, Lady Bee, Triumph, Sugar S, Soul Puss, The Wave, Trinity, Cocoa T, Sye, The Bobb, Boplay, Daddy Milla, Mask Eruption, The Explosion and newcomer, Charis D, who did not make it past eliminations.

“This evening folks can expect a packed show in a very peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere,” Bobb stated. “For a change, the show will start on time. We are really encouraging the public to come out and when we say the public, we are referring to people on the both sides of the political spectrum, no matter your religion, color, class or creed we are encouraging patrons to come.”

He said one of the challenges that organizers had to deal with in the past was that patrons usually came out much later on Fridays.

Activities will begin from about 8.30 pm but calypsonians will start performing from 9.15 pm.

Bobb said they are hoping to use the show to reunite the people after last year’s general election.

A contribution of $20 for the grounds and $40 for the VIP, will get patrons into the venue and these prices will remain for the rest of the season.

Wondering, if it would not be a good suggestion that Dice makes two appearances with different tunes, toward the beginning, like 4th position and at the end. Each week an artist can do a near to complete stage performance from a final, with props etc. Like tarzan in the jungle, or any other as A must see during the first half of the show.

Listen last night. Daryl bob you have a master piece. By just listening to that song lyrics, message, and musical arrangement I predict you win this year if you have a good second song. I am impressed.
