Stardom King of the Tent tickets go on sale today

Tickets for the final installment of Stardom, or Stardom Monarch of the Tent, go on sale today and organizers are promising a ‘massive show.’

Tickets for the show, carded for February 6 at Carnival City, are priced at $25 regular and $40 VIP.

Reigning Stardom King of the Tent, Checko, will go head to head with a large contingent of calypsonians in a bid to defend his throne.

He took the Tent by storm in 2012 with his popular rendition ‘AM/PM.’

Hunter, Scrunter, Beno, Chris B, Shadow Flo, Lugas, Checker, Lady Star, Twanna, Dino, Son of the Saint, Della, Explosion, Man Himself, Jamma B, Sting Ray, Comforter, Ghetto Prince, Black Diamond, Karessa, Ras Kelly, Web and Daddy Chess are all expected to perform.

Manager of the Tent, Norman Letang, said large crowds are expected and the calypsonians participating in the Tent will be putting on a show to remember. “The magnitude of the show called for the move from Harlem Plaza to Carnival City since we are expecting large crowds … we wanted to avoid overcrowding,” he said.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Letang was of the opinion that judges of calypso shows should have some form of musical knowledge.

“I feel to be a judge of music; you have to know a certain amount of music. When you take someone who doesn’t know any bit of music, they cannot determine whether someone is flat, whether someone is sharp or off key, if the tune makes any sense … that cannot be right,” Letang said.

He added that it is not enough for judges to only attend a workshop prior to the show since they should be able to appreciate melody and not only lyrics.

“We should help them appreciate the melody, help them appreciate the music if they want to be a judge,” the Stardom manager declared.
