IN PICTURES: Dominicans celebrate Independence in St. Thomas

Untitled - 10Hundreds of Dominicans living in St. Thomas USVI gathered at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Sunday November 10, 2013 for a grand Eucharistic Celebration in observance of Dominica’s 35th anniversary of Independence.

Catholic Priest Fr. Herman Sharplis was the main celebrant and he delivered a very thought provoking homily.

The Dominica Association of St. Thomas organized the day’s event and after the Mass Dominicans very treated to Lunch.  The Church Service was carried live both in Dominica and St. Thomas.

The event was attended by Dominican students at the University of the Virgin Islands as well as a delegation from Tortola and St. Johns.

See photos below of the event.

Papa Met! Couldn’t we just say Congratulations!
Beautiful! So what is the purpose of criticizing
their outfit and mentioning what outfit they should have wirn. Can’t we see the smiles on their faces celebrating their culture. To all of them I say Thank U !Beautiful ,God bless u all and our Beautiful Country.

Sad to say that our culture has become so tainted that even our national wear is not important. No one is wearing the original outfit. WHAT A SHAME!!!

    • Interesting.......
      November 14, 2013

There were a couple persons who wore the original wob – I was at the service…..guess the photographer just did not snap a pic

Some of us are too quick to call shame upon our fellow Dominicans overseas

Truly a shame. what are these bright yellow blouses about?
If we have a national wear, let us do justice to it.

What is wrong with you. When you don’t know something, ask a question. Stop politicising everything for God’s sake.

    • November 14, 2013

Do you pay tax in Dominica? Skeritt did NOT send Sharplis to St. Thomas. So what if he did?

My God , can’t you understand English: The people from St. Thomas sent the ticket for the Priest to come over to do the mass.

Skerrit has nothing to do with that.
