LIME Dominica has once again presented its Creole Lifetime Award to two deserving citizens of Dominica.

Lawrence Brumant and Fitzroy Williams both received their awards at the 2013 opening ceremony of the 11th annual Lime Creole in the Park on Tuesday.

President Charles Savarin conferred the award on both individuals.

Brumant was described by Cultural Officer Pearl Christian as the “King of Conte.”

“Mr Brumant has an unflagging resolve committed himself to perpetuating the tradition of conte, creole story creation and performance. Born in the village of Vielle Case Mr Brumant was inspired by a brilliant story teller Patrice Eloi. He relocated to Paix Bouche and it was there that he developed his chosen art form,” she said.

Brumant is known for writing and documenting the story “How Dominica got its Name.”

Williams has been playing the keyboard from close to half a century.

“Fitzroy Williams has been playing the keyboard for over 45 years. He began his musical journey as a xylophone player for the Silver Toad a top band of the 60’s. Fitzroy’s choice of a musical career took root when he joined the very popular band “the Boys and Them” as a keyboard player,” Christian said.

In August 2013, Williams released a cadence CD along calypso King Dennison “Dice” Joseph.

LIME also presented a Special Employee recognition award to the company’s Credit Control Manager Phillipson Bertrand.

Why didn`t Prevost boycott this event as the President was present? and even more involved than at the youth raly. So the UWP don`t want to mess up the vibes for big sponsor LIME but its ok to mess up the opportunity for the children to receive their awards and be part of the Independence celebration. This lack of consistency proves the maliciousness of the opposition. Magway sa!

How sad that such an honourable event, the awarding of two men who have spent the best years of their lives contributing to Dominica’s culture, have to be given their ward by a man whose election to the Presidency is not in keeping with the procedures stated in the Constitution and who is a rabid partisan and defender of Skerrit and the DLP. A rabid political partisan.

For the past 3 weeks I keep hearing about “violation of the Constitution”, that the election of the current President H.E. Charles A Savarin was “unconstitutional”…but for these past 3 weeks, I have yet to see any section of the Constitution quoted in support of the argument that the election was a violation or a disregard of the said provision. I have taken the trouble to read Section 19 of the Constitution which speaks about the election of the President, as well as Section 35 which gives the conditions for the resignation of members of Parliament. In neither case have I seen anything which would support the argument that the election of Charles Savarin as President is either unconstitutional or illegal. If you have reliable information to the contrary please enlighten me and Dominica.

@ not a herd follower, what is so sad is the fact that , Mr. Norris Prevost (UWP parlament member) is telling the young people, the children of Dominica, that they should not participate in the youth parade, because of the appointment of President Savarin, the hypocrite, which is what Mr. Prevost is, is on the same stage/platform with Presdent Charles Savarin. He glorified being on that stage, making his speech to the gathering at “Creole in The Park, sharing the same stage with President Savarin. What double standard, what hypocrisy!!

I said it, that those “Boycott opposition Party”. Will not boycott the sewo. They want to use the youth to do their dirty work. Prevost, I had more respect for you, but now you are me sick!!!

Today at Creole in the ark, there were two people who received awards fom the Presdent and you were there!! You are denying the youth who worked so hard, from receiving their awards fom the Same President!! The is unbelievable!!

And another thing ” not a herd follower”, don’t ever think that all Dominicans think like you and the Boycott Opposition. Party. What makes you believe that the recipients of the awards today, shared your views! Think about that.

All you boycott parliament for 3 yrs. Go for the record and boycott dominica for 10 years. We do not need haters in our midst. If your master becomes PM, should the opposition do the same and boycott everything they do not agree with? I did not think so. Think before spreading your hate.

Congratulations to the “King of Conte and Mr. Williams for their achievements.
