The host of the Caribbean Hotel & Resort Investment Summit (CHRIS) announced Secret Bay the winner of the prestigious Development of the Year Award.
The announcement was made at the Caribbean Hotel & Resort Investment Summit (CHRIS) conference, on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami hotel in Miami, Florida, USA.
CHRIS is hosted by Burba Hotel Network (BHN).
The announcement stated the following: “In the category of Development of the Year 2011, the winner is Secret Bay Dominica. Opened in June 2011, the intimate Secret Bay Hotel is located in the island of Dominica, on the Eastern Caribbean. The property features four villas and bungalows atop wooden superstructures, perched like tree houses on a cliff. Nominees in the Development of the Year 2011 category also included Buccament Bay Resort in St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Fishing Lodge Cap Cana in Punta Cana, Dominica Republic. Rogerio Basso chaired the Development of the Year Award committee that was comprised of hotel industry leaders who selected, reviewed, and nominated deals. The finalist information was sent to the CHRIS delegates for voting.”
Secret Bay is beautiful but my only problem with, not only Secret Bay, is that they have totally forgotten about the locals. The prices are set so high that locals can hardly even go there. Why so expensive Secret Bay? That is why, when foreigners don’t come to these places often, they run into financial difficulties, because they have nothing in place for us. The average Dominican can hardly go on a staycation in these places.
now that we have this great exposture we have to keep our visitors safe and well protected from roberies, rapes and all the bad things that has happen in the past year. Dominica is such a beautiful island lets’ keep the beauty and the love flowing to every visitor
well done ,this template could be copied throughout dominica to create even more success .

ON THURSDAY LAST WEEK DOMINCA WAS ALSO BIG ON NBC IN NY.THERE WAS THIS LADY SAYING DOMINICA IS ON OF THE BEST COUNTRY PPL SHOULD VISIT.I WAS SRPRISE TO HEAR MATT SAID HE WAS ON ISLAND.ALL THAT HAVE TO BE DONE NOW GOV`T MINISTERS GET READ OF THE ROTTEN EGGS.

I have followed the development of this place and noted the attention to detail, design, excellent service and understanding the market. This is the way to go.
