The government of Dominica has granted the request of the All Saints University School of Medicine to make lands available at Warner for the expansion.

This was revealed by Foreign Affairs Minister Francine Baron who represented Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit at the institution’s White Coat ceremony held last weekend.

“As the result of the growing population of the University and as recognition of the importance of the university to Dominica, the government of Dominica has granted the request of the institution to make lands available at Warner for the expansion,” she revealed.

According to her, efforts are currently being made by the University for the first phase of development of the property.

“We anticipate therefore that very soon the University will relocate to its new premises where it will continue to provide excellent teaching services to its students, it will be done in more spacious surroundings,” Baron said.

Baron stated also that the institution has grown with a student population of 660, comprising of mainly international students who have integrated comfortably into the Dominican society.

“This is indeed a remarkable achievement,” she noted. “We are happy that we have been able to provide a safe and peaceful society in which students can feel comfortable to relax and apply themselves in the pursuit of their dreams, to one day leave our beautiful shores having obtained their doctoral degree. This institution has grown and continues to positively impact on the social and economic landscape of Dominica as we provide services to students and faculty.”

A total of 38 students received their white coats on the weekend, joining 59 who also received white coats in April 2016.

Thirty-eight (38) students of the All Saints University have been told that their primary purpose should not necessarily be economic gain but service and love for humanity.

The White Coat Ceremony formally marks an educational milestone for the students who have completed basic sciences and now continue to pre-clinical studies.

All thanks to the Grandbay pal rep for not fighting for her people and dangling the south city vote in their faces, that’s what the Warner and Possie parliament reps do all the time and get hotels etc. Figure that out. Grandbay people are aware that fixing a road off and on does nothing for job creation in Grandbay compared to a med school. It’s a sad day for them, thanks for nothing pal rep.

I know just what you mean because many residents in hospital area started investing in adding floors and rooms to their homes and ended up with more rooms than they need in that area. If there was economic activity they would manage to rent those but you know the area has no work, ppl cant afford to pay rent. Grandbay again.

Why not give them layou river hotel. It just seating there doing nothing. While we are at it the New hospital should have been built on Warner or Hilsbro Tarreau Heights. That is a lovely location space will not be a problem and lying Skerrit talking about helicopter there will be able to take a helipad unlike PMH. By the way did they cater for a helipad in their new designs? Marigot doh worry about New hospital Skerrit helicopter will fly all you done to his new hospital. I hope they do not make the same mistake they did with the palace malice and the College no renewable energy systems no solar panels no water harvesting. We will wait to see. Meanwhile there are real question marks hanging over the China Human Construction Engineering Group Coorporation ( CHCEGC) who has sanctions placed on them from the World Bank and many African States for their behaviours. Google it my people.

Look out for a spike in crime rate. In 50 years time or less, the school/university may become a dance hall, or a Church. University in warner is a very bad idea.

Too late, the a-political UWPites bought them way back, some bought even before the public knew the gov’t was selling back then. And mind you I am not a DLP lover, I think it’s time for a change, term limits reform is needed – 2terms max.
