Fathers posed with their children at the school on Wednesday

As part of Early Childhood Awareness Month, students and staff of the Bright Beginning Centre (BBC) in Roseau hosted a “Father’s Focus Day” where special treats were organized for all fathers who have students attending the school.

The event was held on Wednesday.

Fathers also had to take a funny photo with their son or daughter to be exhibited at the school since the day corresponded with International Men’s Day (IMD).

Teacher at the school, Shereen Laronde, told Dominica News Online (DNO) that the fathers of BBC have contributed in a huge way to the institution over the years and they felt that something should be done to show appreciation.

“We wanted to do something for them. They came in and were very surprised and happy about the treat,” Laronde said. “We are very thankful for the men and fathers of the school. They did a lot for us so we wanted to do something in return to give back to them.”

According to her, every year during IMD, something special is done for the fathers to show appreciation.

She stated further that, father’s had the opportunity to dip for a prize and were fed with cake by their sons and daughters.

IMD was celebrated this year under the theme; “Working Together for Men and Boys” in over 60 countries around the world.

Its objectives include; a focus on men’s and boy’s health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models.
