Dominican students inducted into prestigious Honour Societies at UVI

Dominican students, whose academic excellence at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), placed them in the top five percent at the institution, were inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society- the world’s premier collegiate honor society, on April 18.

The new inductees were

  • Derron Ambrose
  • Chelcy Angol*
  • Youville George*
  • Donette Skerrit*
  • Johnasha Stuart
  • Muhisani Stuart*

*These individuals though not at the ceremony were still recognized for their outstanding academic success.

Also present at this ceremony were two Dominican Golden Key members from the spring 2009 induction, Kurt Alexander and Mrs. Mahogany Jervon Ambrose. Mahogany gave the History of the Society speech at this ceremony.

Nyka Etienne, was recognized for making the Fall 2009 Dean’s List on April 11, 2010.

Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology also recently inducted two Dominican students  on April 6, 2010, Derron Ambrose and Sandy Bellot.

Sandy Bellot, for distinction in French and Mahogany Ambrose, for distinction in Spanish were on April 11, 2010 inducted into the Alpa Mu Gamma Foreign Language Honor Society Mu Pi Chapter.

Other bouquets go out to Derron Ambrose and Josephine Riviere (Fall 2009 Dean’s List recipient) who on March 21st, 2010 were inducted as Student Peer Health Educators whose primary role is to educate students on sexually transmitted diseases and substance abuse.

Further congratulations are in order for Derron Ambrose who on April 15, 2010 was awarded 2010 Student Employee of the Year along with two other awards: Planner Award and Most Motivated Award.

    congratulations to Derron and his wife. Harlem roots. We do have good folks in Harlem. Hope to join you in the psychological field to help elevate the youths of harlem mentally and socially. thwey really need our help. Just grauduated in the psyc firld and hope to give back some day. I can identify with you as you enjoy the fruits of those sleepless nights and those long hours on the computer doing research and working on assignments individually and as a group.
