DSC holds pinning ceremony today

The Faculty of Health Sciences of the Dominica State College (DSC) will convene its Fourth Pinning Ceremony today.

Ten former nursing students who pursued the Certificate in Practical Nursing Programme and are expected to graduate in October 2011, will receive the DSC Nursing Pin.

The Pin distinguishes their educational achievement and is normally won with their nursing uniform indicating that they attained this educational award.

The ceremony will mark the official transition of these young women from being student nurses to beginning practitioners of nursing.

Today’s event will commence at the Dominica Public Service Union Hall from 5:30 p.m.

Among the persons to address this event will be the Minster for Education, Hon Peter St Jean who will deliver Congratulatory remarks and a prominent Dominican nurse, Mrs Helen Royer. Mrs. Royer is Director of Health Promotion and will give a motivational talk to the new graduates.  President of DSC, Dr. Donald Peters will give brief remarks.

The College’s first pinning ceremony was held in 2008.

Congratulation to one and all……now my question why is that that students have to wait till October to graduate , what happen to May/June graduation ? I mean some students after finishing college want to go on to university and this October graduation is robbing them of that joy and satisfaction which the ceremony brings as they want to start their university career in August/September.

I mean what is really the reason for having graduation all the way in October when they officially finish college in May . Come on people
