Madanah Auguiste, of the W.S. Stevens Primary School in Marigot, has won the top position in the DBS Radio, Courts-sponsored Reading Competition held at the Arawak House of Culture on Thursday.
The nine-year-old captured a total of 445 points.
Second place position went to Naomi Francis of the Petite Savanne Primary School. She gathered 444 points.
Makada Cornelius of the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School captured third place with 424 points.
Edicia Sanford of the Salybia Primary School recieved 422 points and placed fourth while fifth place went to Arianna Cools-Latigue of the Convent Prep with 419 points.
The winner took home a tablet, plus $2,000 and an additional $2,000 for her school. A computer will follow.
She will represent Dominica in the OECS Reading Competition in October in a country to be announced.
A total of ten schools participated in the finals of the competition.
congratulation to all the students who made it to the finals. I know this was no easy challenge but u persevered. Hats off to the champion and to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place I say u did an excellent job.

Congrats to her! I listened to the finals and while she was reading I said “yes, she is the winner”…very well deserved. Also congrats to her parents, teachers and her school. A job well done. This little girl blew me away. I am pretty confident that she will do us proud in the OECS competition.

Madanah Auguiste is an amazing orator in the making! Congratulations to everyone who made her success possible especially her parents and teachers and of course the organizers of the competition. Hats off to ALL the students and teachers from the other participating schools; it takes a lot of courage and effort to stand in front of an audience. “Success comes when preparation meets opportunity.”
