Bellevue Chopin Village Feast of St. Gerard

The scenic southern community of Bellevue Chopin will celebrate the feast of St. Gerard this weekend.

The village is well know for its organic produce and is among the most beautiful villages in Dominica.  The views from all angles of the village including one of Roseau and others of lush mountain greenery, join together to make it outstanding.  The cool breeze of the village makes it a real estate area in high demand by locals and overseas residents alike.

The aim of this years activities is to re-establish Bellevue Chopin as one of the most thriving communities in the south.  The previous years have seen a decline in activity for the feast but this year we aim to revive it and take it back to what it used to be.  The theme being, “People. Produce. Progress” we hope to develop people so that they may be able to produce for the progress of themselves, their family and the country as a whole.  We still have the healthiest foods by way of organic produce, seasonings, and flowers.  And this will be showcased.

The chapel of St. Gerard situated a stone’s throw from the main road will be filled to capacity this Sunday as villages and their visiting guests get together to worship in the name of the gentle, meek and mild saint of St. Gerard.  The church services will be followed by rounders and cricket matches, part of the family fun day.  Bouncy castle for the kids, keenly contested domino games, possibly some pony rides and ATV rides and lots to eat and drink.

The weekend will commence with action from the Friday night with bands on the basketball hard court and also on Saturday with Bouyon giants, WCK.  Then the family can spend a day of fun on Sunday, also on the playing field.  The public is asked to come out and support, buy organic produce, flowers, delicious eats and local food.

This a very positive move by the organizers of this event and by extension the people of this scenic and naturally beautiful community.
Bellevue has great potential for Eco -Tourism development.
Hopefuully, this event will allow the peole of Bellevue to showcase their “southern Hospitality”, as well as their long held tradition of producing tasty organic produce.
Please keep the event ORGANIC , UNIQUE and ORIGINAL .
