CEO of the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), Colin Piper, has revealed that the organization will unveil a website centered on national festival tourism.
The portal, www.dominicafestivals.com, is to be filled with promotional information for the island’s festivals and events, and is set to go live by the end of the day on Thursday.
“DDA has commissioned a website which will be the go-to portal for national festival tourism. That’s gonna start with Mas Dominik 2016. Across this website will be promotional information for upcoming festivals and related events that surround them,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday. “In the case of Carnival, the content covers history, as well as information on all the events, and activities on the calendar, and costume bands, including registration content details.”
Piper stated that as the portal develops, it should become a vital asset in spreading the word on Dominica events, and should help visitors plan their vacations accordingly.
“As the portal grows, it will become a vital avenue for visitors and locals to know what there is to do in Dominica during our festive season, and become a festival vacation planning tool of sorts,” he noted.
He encouraged the public to visit the site, and make helpful recommendations via the DDA website.
“We urge people to go onto the website, take a look at it, and if you see that there is information that needs to be added, then you can go ahead and send that in to the Discover Dominica Authority at [email protected],” he noted.
Greattttttttt. Will share
Colin, people don\’t travel all the way to Dominica for festivals; and they never will. So-called \’festival tourism\’ is misguided. People travel to Dominica to hike, to scuba dive, and to enjoy the diversity of the island\’s unspoiled natural environment. That\’s where the focus should be; and that\’s where the marketing efforts and money should be spent.
great idea..i applaud this…but i have a serious concern about the safety of people during carnival..when are you mr.piper and the police commissioner is goin to put a total ban on having glass bottled drinks on the road in all communities..i just watched a video of portsmouth carnival opening and im seeing alot of teens with beer bottles in their hands. you are basically arming an individual with a weapon when u serve drinks in glass bottles.please address this urgently before the next street event comes around. total ban on glass bottled drinks island wide at all street parades and events
Modda!! That photo is messed up.. Do we have any quality in anything we do? Piper is so they have you!!! Lets see how long before the information on the site stops getting updated regularly. I tired go allu website and see de information is like stale bread!!
