Dominican artiste, Ellaina “Lyrique” Joseph, is about to take the world by storm with her first premier on U.S. music industry standard, Billboard.

Lyrique appears on the billboard feature as the lead singer and co-writer of the hot, new single titled ‘Show me’.

The song was produced and co-written by US based producer Dave Marquess, known as Bedrockk. Bedrockk has produced for a number of popular US artistes, and is also the co-founder of the San Francisco and Denver-based label, DIRTY//CLEAN.

This serves as evidence to prove that there are opportunities available for our local artistes to feature on the International scene.

Lyrique made a name for herself among the big leagues following her participation at the Island Music, Model & Talent Showcase (MMTS) held in the Bahamas, last year. At that talent showcase, Lyrique didn’t cop any individual awards, but had the golden opportunity to network with personnel from the U.S. music industry.

The recent news of Lyrique’s song Premiere on Billboard serves as a huge accomplishment for the artiste nonetheless; she remains humble as she knows that it’s just the beginning.

Lyrique’ explained that “Since the Island MMTS hosting in The Bahamas, things have propelled. I’m so proud of myself, but at the same time it’s kind of like the calm before the storm,” she added. “There is a lot more work to be done and a lot more effort to put in to build on this career.”

So far she has secured opportunities to write for a few Disney Channel artistes, and was awarded a spot for placement writing with U.S. based Production Company, iStandard. iStandard is known for creating opportunities for producers, song writers and engineers. They are also recognized for their work with Dr Dre, Kanye West and 50 Cent.

“So far I’ve been working with iStandard doing placement writing for Pia Mia and Becky G. I look forward to handling more projects in the upcoming future,” Lyrique said.

Lyrique also announces that her fans should look out for her upcoming EP “Love and Loss.”

“In a way, I am completely afraid about completing this project. Not only is it my first collection of music, but it is also something that I convinced myself I had to write both unguarded and uncensored. I feel that I needed to deliver pieces of music that are one hundred percent honest and relatable, to a point where I had lived every emotion myself,” Lyrique remarked. “It is a stretch from simply writing stories about other people and their situations, and that in itself is scary.”

DNO, I think the statement quoted above is an outrageous overstated comment!

If this is a prediction, and we are talking about an unknown singer, I do not see how an unknown can take the world by storm when her music is not played on any Radio Station internationally.

I live in California, I’ve never heard about her, never heard her song played on Radio, I’ve never seen her on a live Television Show performing.

I checked out all of the Music standard Billboards I could find in the United States, after reading the contents, I have yet to see her picture, or any mention of her. Let the egg hatch before we plan on eating the grown chicken!

Just because someone record a song in the United States, does not make them internationally recognized!

It’s people like you……ever heard of underground music? I guess not you probably dont know about dubstep or house that aren’t very popular on U.S radio but it is in the club which you most likely don’t go to. Just because she’s not mainstream does not mean she’s not internationally recognized, and even if she’s not make it your Dominican duty to make that possible and support her. Because I can tell you that getting into this genre is her first step to become internationally recognized other DJs have the chance to familiarize themselves with her voice and get them on their tracks. This guy is an upcoming Dj popular enough at that and internationally recognized this type of and this genre don’t go unnoticed this song will be playing in clubs a few but enough for recognition eventually. There are some things you just don’t know about accept that.

If you are underground how can you take the world by storm. In the first place that would mean she is involved into something illegitimate, or illegal, that would be classified as shady dealings in the United States. Tax evasion and all that would be involved.

Are you implying she is involve with a clandestine conspiratorial organization set up for revolutionary, or other disruptive purposes, against a civil order? That is a definition of the word underground. I believe I read ‘ her first premier on U. S. music standard billboard.” So, how can she be operating underground?

        That makes no sense whatsover!

Talk that crap to some idiot in Dominica who falls for every bit of nonsense you here, I’ve been around for a very long time, and surly I am not dunce nor an idiot, though I make myself an idiot when ever I wish!

Careful Francisco…your greeeeen is showing haha. It’s an accomplishment to be EXCLUSIVELY premiered via Billboard. Get over yourself! She doesn’t have to be playing on U.S radio to make an impact. She already has and people are watching. You will hear more great things from this young lady. Why don’t you go do some research and see if Billboard just premieres any and everybody’s music…get some of that jealous energy out while you’re at it.

This sound is over produced. Wish her natural voice was featured more than the auto-tune and the sound isn’t fresh. This won’t chart sorry people hate me or love me just giving honest commentary

      March 29, 2016

While your ‘honest commentary’ is appreciated, I do feel that maybe you should’ve done a little research before saying it. If you had taken the time to read the Billboard interview, you would’ve noted the producer has a very specific style and mix that sells btw and that the song was meant to sound the certain way you call “over-produced”. A natural voice would have definitely not suited his intentions. Music is evolving it’s no longer just black and white.

Again i understand you are a fan or promoter etc of the young lady i have yet to see her works etc. I’m only commenting on the body of work that was displayed. Nuff Said.

In any case, the fact that this young woman is the first ever in Dominican history to be featured; on Billboard no less, is a huge accomplishment, despite her voice not being displayed to your standards. The piece is artistic.

    My dear young lady

I am no music expert and don’t even know what being on the US billboard is all about, but you are a Dominican getting some kind of international recognition and exposure and for me that’s all that matters!

Congratulations! Take it one step at a time and keep those feet on the ground, don’t let it get to your head!
