Dominican Chardelle Moore is one of a number of hopefulls who is vying to host BET’s popular show 106 & Park.
106 & Park is BET’s number one rated hip hop and R&B music video show.
In May the show’s hosts announced they would be leaving and a nationwide search in the US began for the next host/hostess of 106 & Park.
Moore said she is the right choice to host 106 & Park because of her love for music. “I love music. Music create culture, it’s life,” she said in a promotional video.
She went on to say that she has everything it takes to be the show’s host including the determination, the passion and of course the love for music.
Moore migrated at an early age to the US with her family. Her father, Garry Moore, is from Grand Bay and mother Beverley Moore is from Fond St. Jean.
Moore, who describes Dominica as her “love,” has made quite a name for herself since moving to the US. IN 2009 she won the Miss Caribbean Metro USA pageant and used that platform to serve as the direct representative of the Caribbean American community.
She graduated from Marymount University in May 2010 and holds a bachelor degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations and broadcast journalism.
She has been involved in many community outreach program in the Washington DC area and is involved in charity events, mentoring programs, and educational seminars.

BET is not a station i would promote in Dominica. There is nothing positive on there and it has adversely affected our young people all over the caribbean. I actually think that station should be censored in the interest of our young people.
cinemax,hbo n all other movie channels are worst than BET(106&PARK)…1st thing u will never hear a curse word on bet…y u all love blame BET when u all watching so much corrupted soap opera…it has movies with gay acts,drinking,smoking,killing,robbery,raping,sexual contents,bad language….the 1st place i saw a gun was in a police man hand then on tv n i knew nuttin bout BET…when i 1st saw a naked woman or sexual stuff was in dominica n none of us knew what was BET…the 1st time i heard a curse word was fr the mouths of ppl around me n i could not even watch tv at that age…when i 1st saw fighting n stabbing was in our local jams n the men that were fighting were grown men n mind u i never saw BET at that time…the 1st time i heard bout a killing was right here in dominica n then on news even when they showing u the wars around the world…the same fashion we seeing on BET is da same fashion they are selling in town…DONT BLAME BET FOR THAT,BLAME THE ELDERS OF SOCIETY AND THE LEADERS OF THIS WORLD….BET IS JUST A DROP IN THE OCEAN..
my mum watches BET n she is a christian mind u cuz BET has alot of nice black shows on there n alot of nice family black movies…have ever watched BET on a sunday morning or at nights when they are showing gospel stuff.its not jus music videos alone u ignorant beeep….
I have looked at her videos and I do not see anything unique, special, or different about her. African American, Hip Hop culture is basically devoid of any substance or purpose and is basically money, flash, thug mentality, ghetto opulence, and innuendo. This manufactured culture does nothing for the advancement of African Americans or anyone in the ‘Black Diaspora’.
Why should I vote for one of our own who is not necessarily making advances in medicine, neuroscience, chemistry or any other discipline that advances the human condition? What example is this young lady setting for daughters, yours and mine? I mean the only thing I get from her videos is that she can read a teleprompter and knows about wearing various hair weaves, colored contacts, skimpy, supposedly fashionable clothes and acrylic nails in every imaginable style and color. Is what she is doing considered acting? I am just trying to ask myself how her success is supposed to benefit the rest of us Dominicans achieve or succeed in this life? I have nothing against the young lady but TV already brings in enough of these empty images of beauty and acceptability that our girls are already emulating, therefore I do not think we need one more.
As for Rhianna and Barbados, she is in the US strung out on alcohol and drugs, jumping from famous man to famous man, causing them to act like animals and fight in the clubs, getting beat up so badly and still continuing to date her abuser and acting a fool in NY and LA. Personally I do not find her to be heroic at all and not someone I want my daughter to aspire to be like in any way, shape, or form. With that said, I would like ot surmise be saying, forget the free publicity, Dominica does not have to be known for another ‘talking head’ on American TV who will not be allowed to share anything from her heart which would be the true assessment of her true value. After all, we have Maurice Dubois on American TV and look at how that turned out. Who is that you ask? EXACTLY that is how much he gets to tell the world about the little dot in the Caribbean that he and/or his parents are from.

Her Grandmother fondly known as “‘Sute” made the best first communion soup at Lawee Derriere… a very nice lady. She had six sons and all of them were scouts… three played basketball for the island. Wow! and now she is giving us a star…well another star, since either Queen or Kareem’s mother won a Princess show in the early 80’s I think.

So somebody is auditioning for a job and that, somehow is an accomplishment? I am as proud as anyone else when our people accomplish something, sadly applying for a job is not one of them. If and when she gets the job, then I will be the first to congratulate her. Until then, let’s hold the applause.
I agree with you whole heartedly. Furthermore, what purpose is it to Dominica? Stupes….When we go and develop another country, contribute to their economic development and then return home when we retire, then we want to criticize Dominica for being backward and third world.

You have a valid point. However, this so called “job” is not just any job. This job will pt her in the spotlight and as a Dominican, it could mean great thins for Dominica.
If she dos get the job…perhaps she can be used as a tourism rep to promote Dominica and be the face of Dominica…and Tourism. Hosting this job could mean great things for her, and if she’s smart DOMINICA. It could greatly spotlight us. If he represents for Dominica and bigs up Dominica and even perhaps encourages the how t film something in Dominica, then she’d have done her job.
The host of this show always parlay themselves into something bigger.
We need to think big… and if she makes it to hosting the gig…then hopefully Dominica can ride her coat tells when she becomes successfuuly. We know that 106 n Park is the music show of shows.

She may be able to mention Dominica a few times by saying this is where she is from, but frankly all she will do is host a show that have program directors and script writers.
