18-year-old Dominica State College student Ellaina “Lyrique” Joseph has released her first single.
“Angel,” which was composed by Joseph herself, was released on Valentine’s Day and according to the singer, it has been dedicated to someone who recently came into her life and caused a positive change.
“This is the first time that I am recording a song all by myself. I did a few other songs. However, it is with other artistes from the 365 MMP team and that is the only song that I have recorded that is just me,” she said.
Joseph said she started singing when she was just three years old and she said she enjoys performing.
She added she received assistance from McKean Williams and Jevon Bjorn Davis with the new single and that she sees herself “going far” in the music industry.
“My intentions at the time are making myself known in Dominica because right now I do a lot of songs and do a lot of writing and a few performances. However, it is not exactly where I want to be right now,” she said.
Joseph indicated that she is looking towards releasing videos and mix tapes as a way of increasing her popularity and to earn a place in the music industry.

It’s the first time i’ve been impressed by local artist. Wow.
Continue the good job…………….exceptional!
young people DO HAVE talent in Dominica.. continue to be the change D/ca needs dear..
Cute girl, with a voice so sweet n clean. I’m gonna beg u not to take my critic as negative; it’s not. I can’t help but notice the trend in DA young artists, forgive my ignorance, but is there some technology being used in getting their voices sounding so patterned and American? I’ve noticed the exact same thing for this northern up and coming group, CHOEB. It’s not that it doesn’t sound good; it does. However, it doesn’t sound original. But hey, this is just my 2 cents ppl…no need to kill me over it.
I respect your comment but if I might add; The whole world is influenced by the American culture. I do believe there’s some advantages and disadvantages from such influence. I’m sure this young lady not only intends to spread her “wings” in dominica but also abroad if the opportunity presents itself. In spreading her “wings” abroad, anyone especially a foreigner can connect to her music. Look at Riannah today, she’s still a Bajan girl who has expand her “wings” and Americans and Islanders all connect with her music.
Great voice. keep doing what u do.
Great work. Loving the voice and the song.
lovely! i never knew it was a Dominican singing this song… keep up up my dear…u can go very far!
This young lady can go far!
Congrats….continue to strive for success… reach for the star

Nice voice, but the song/music lacks creative substance….nothing ORIGINAL here… ..please take that as a positive critic….
Take note she said it was a first. YOUR COMMENT COULD HAVE BEEN POSITIVELY WORDED FOR THE SAME OUT COME LETS NOT DISCOURAGE
I listen to the song it need nothing, it’s perfect am right now in the states and am about to make contact with this young lady and get her in the states to expand this talent.
Please she just start, give her a break everything is good.
