Eric Donaldson brings back memories (See photo gallery)

Patrons enjoying themselves at the Eric Donaldson show.

The Eric Donaldson Show held at KrazyKokonuts Saturday night was very well attended especially by adults and seniors who grew up listening to the Jamaican’s music.

The show started off with some local artistes performing such as Red Eye, Dr. Silk, Aima Moses and others. This was followed by a performance by Caribbean Vybz which was well received by the crowd.

Donaldson appeared next, evoking a loud cheer from the crowd. And he did not disappoint. His one-hour performance was very energetic with the crowd singing along. The people got their monies worth.

Listening to land of my birth, it reminds me of all the people who perished during the struggle of their respective countries to gain independence. This is a powerful song listening to it, each time i break down.Really this one was supposed to be Jamaica’s National Anthem.

I come from a very corrupt country(Nigeria), but whenever i listen to “LAND OF MY BIRTH & SWEET JAMAICA” of Eric D. the belief that good things will still come out of my corrupt Nigeria, will be built……..Reggae music is the music with message all the time(late Lucky Dube).

SUPERB show! Am an 80’s kid, and I grew up listening to Eric Donaldson’s music thanks to my parents. That evening just brought me down memory lane (even though my memory lane isnt that far away). Had shivers running through my spine during the entire performance. Kudos to organiser Miguel Labadie…you’re a breath of fresh air to the entertainment industry in DA. You see, the young people do know good music too! Looking forward to bigger better things!

I am shivering all over, just for missing Eric show, that is they way the show organizers should go, and in so doing the youths will pattern on the middle age as to how to behave in a show, pure enjoyment, i bet all those who attended this show is still smiling and dancing all week. I would for sure lol. Crazy better wait on me, for the next artist of the ’80’s he bringing down to DA. I am happy people enjoy themselves.

That is what we were missing in DA, a good way of easing all that political stress, and economic stress people going through. Well done CRAZY COCONUTS. I just Love Eric Donaldson songs, i grew up hearing those song. Crazy , sparrow would be a good other choice, if he not tooooooooo old to perform lol. Did Eric leave CD’s for sale? if so how can I get copies to buy?

The show was great. The first acts featured very talented Dominican artist then came Caribbean Vibes which elevated the show to a higher level. Now my dear readers, then came the great Eric Donaldson with his outfit and just WoWed the audience. Hit after hit after hit after hit. Something I must make mention of which deserves due respect is the band which backed Eric Donaldson. I have been following the Fanatik band since they started and WOW. These guys play it all and do it well. From zouk yo soca to bouton to calypso to reggae to hip hop to rap to rock to ……… You name it, THEY PLAY IT WELL. I can’t believe we have such great talent in this group and they are just there. They have my vote for best band, certainly most versatile, best performing group and I could go on and on. To Fanatik I congratulate you and continue doing a great job.

@rushand: The crowd was well behaved because it was a Mature crowd and the music was classy and not music that will make people get on like wild bulls. This is what you call music!!!!

i was so elated when I heard that Eric Donaldson was going home. I am away from home but listen to DBS on line on a daily basis. My son was born away frrom home but he knows who Eric Donaldson is because I listen to his music while I’m driving. I wish I could be at home to see him in person. They really don’t create music like that anymore. I’m happy to hear that things went on smoothly and that the audience got their monies’ worth.

I like that. It’s time the entertainment industry start catering for the “grown and sexy” in Dominica. That’s a segment that’s been left untapped for much too long.
