In October 2013 Joy Stoute, as a member of the Association of Music Professionals (AMP), was chosen to represent Dominica at the first ever “All for One Caribbean Voices competition” in Martinique where the performers competed for the Jeff Joe Trophy.
At that event Stoute sang two songs “Let me Love you” authored by herself and “Protegez Kilti la” written by Gordon Henderson and Shannon Vigilant.
“Let me Love you” was also performed at the Cadence-lypso competition in 2013 and earned Lady S (Shirley Charles) the first runner up position.
Because of the positive reaction of the Martiniquan audience to “Protegez kilti La” Stoute has chosen to perform this song in her first video.
The video was shot and edited by Herry Royer of Omega One and produced and directed by Mc carthy MARIE who also engineered the audio recording.
Stoute was born in the small fishing community of San Sauveur to a family who introduced music to her at a very young age.
Her musical journey began in 2004 when she captured the title of Cable and Wireless Star quest winner, a competition designed to spot new singing talent.
With this she scored her first recording contract and went on to release her self-titled album “JOY” a compilation of songs fused with Creole and Jazz influence.
Over the years Stoute has worked with the best in the industry in Dominica having done compilations with Cornel Phillip and Freddy Nicholas for their individual albums.
She has made appearances with the popular Swinging Stars band as well as providing backing vocals for Michele Henderson on many shows. She has also performed with King Dice, King Hunter, Daryl Bobb, Daddy Chess and other local calypsonians.
With this video and song Stoute is firmly placing her confidence in the Cadence-lypso genre and she is sure DNO’s readers including Mr. Cadence-lypso himself, Gordon Henderson, will be thrilled by her performance.

She is wonderful, just should have used Marie as producer. To old fashion. Beautiful young lady and gorgeous voice, the video would have been the bomb if you had asked someone with more pizzazz, who know that is trending in the music video. Put a little more spice in it you know. Great job nonetheless. Do your thing my girl and all the best in the competition!!!

I think as a musician the video is ok, joy sang perfect, video wasn’t best quality but showed and delivered a message, weight has nothing to do with video its the persons inner being, also the young lady I know is a decent young lady not selling her body for sale as La Sal said sex sells , also we Dominicans need to learn to respect and uplift people instead we only wish to bring down people and still smile to them when we see them. im sure any of those commented negatively has ever bought a joy stoute cd or support sales of any local artist.but instead bent on destrying people negatively, just my two cents.

Lovely voice, great song…but the video was a little too busy. Terrible wig. Next time, just freshen up your cut and you good to go…one more thing. And i’m saying it in the kindest way possible. If you expect to bring out music videos, you could stand to lose some weight, since television adds 30 pounds on camera.
Great song. Great voice. I could understand every word clearly. I cannot speak patois so I have no idea what the song meant, however the words are not chewed up.
When it comes to the video well I must say to each His own. I looked at the video and thought well done. It was not vulgar, it did not imitate the Jamaicans or anyone else. It was purely Dominican. So I thought I was going to read positive comments. To my surprise the comments are trashy. This shows the clientelle that DNO attracts.
Dominicans do not like anything Dominican. We fail to relate to our own. They would have rather the ladies be half naked, using Jamaincan dictions.
I hope Joy knows better not to read these comments. But just in case someone is telling her whats on here….let her know there are some of us out here who thinks her work is great. She does not need to be like the masses to bring her message across. She has good talent. Dominicans take literally the part in the bible that says a man shall not be accepted by his own.

The young lady is a brilliant talent, but are you really being defensive on this low quality video? If people want to put themselves out there, expect people to buy their craft, because ultimately this is her goal, then they have to understand the feedback will come and the video needs a lot of work. Positive Vibration let us be real here. We know Joy can sing, we have heard her songs and we are hearing one now. But the video is all cut and paste, too many scenes flashing before your eyes, making you dizzy. The song is great, the singing superb, but the video is terrible.
Now she can sing! No doubt about that. Now Jenel can write and she can sing. You gotta know where you belong and which is your strong point. I do not believe she sounds like no Ophelia. She looks, feels and sound herself. Yes the video needs to be more modern. Lets get with the program. She looks too different too – one second long hair – another second no hair. lol. Mr. Marie, I think, should stick to what he does best; the business end of music and leave the videography to more knowledgeable/current persons in industry. Joy this is some good vocals….I must say I preffer listening to you than watching this video. Cadence music and calypso is your forte you should stick to that it will take you far. However on another note you should pay attention to your camera caressing…..You are not the only Dominican artist with this problem…If you are interested in taking the next step to making some cash on your music career video is the way to go but you must first learn the art of stage presence camera articulation as well. Next time Mora brings Richard Young to D/ca take his course on stage presence and performance. I love the song but don’t care much for the video. Good Job though!! keep it up.
Babes your talent is indeed creole music and calypso….Stay close to that it will take you far. This is very nice however let me bring something to your attention. Learn the art of caressing the camera. going into video music production is different from just being able to sing and thats where the money is. I recommend singing less with your hand open your movements to sell your product. Believe me I preferred listening to you more than watching you. a few pounds lighter would also be to you advantage…….PPl take up the advise and education of Richard Young stage presentation…Mora brought it to you all for $50 but you all did not embrace it….it is lacking in many of our Dominican artist…NO Stage presence.No Camera articulation.
