A young lady from Calibishie has captured that title of “Dominica’s Next Supermodel” at a show held at Windsor Park Stadium on Friday night.

Ten models took to the stage to compete for the title but Lynah Bontiff was the one who eventually walked home with it.

She won in four segments: introduction, swim wear, business attire/interview and high fashion while grabbing awards for best photo model, best spokes model in interview and best opening dance.

Other competitors who won awards are Earlisha Brumant for best swimwear model, Kershia Breezie for best runway model and Reshema James for best high fashion model.

CEO of Dominica Next Top Model Inc., Ruth Augustine who organized the event,  said it was staged in an effort to showcase Dominican talent and to assist in equipping young and upcoming models with the necessary tools to survive in the modelling industry.

The winner is expected receive a trip to St. Marteen Fashion week, a trip to Antigua Fashion Extravaganza, make up supply by Mio Cosmetics, wardrobe by Casual Behavior including accessories, bags and shoes, one year modelling contract with Dominica’s Next Top Model Inc. and a professional photo shoot for portfolio and advertisement for Tempo water.

i hate when we hide behind the curtains and criticize. why don’t u come out and try. we need to stop bringing down our own. that is why we will never reach far cause once someone try something new or try to make a good investment we bring them down. but thank god there a persons brave enough not to worry what society thinks . if u have to live for society especially in D/A, u will reach nowhere. do what you got to do and make us proud and to the CEO congratulations on your positive work.

How can she have shame when that is her mother posing next to her. I’m so proud of you baby. Welcome to America people.

    • Yes Fada!
      May 16, 2013

Her tits were not all over the place…stop the blasted exaggeration. Let’s just be frank, Dominican society is not ready to embrace modelling and what it fully embraces. Gholda is international modelling material, in its rough stages. If she can be as daring as this on home soil, girl the world is at your feet, get out there and do your thing. Tbaby, maybe you and I won’t make such a choice but do not lash out at the young lady for hers. If anything, let God judge her, NOT YOU!

Lyna; your pose in practically all of your pictures are very good standing; however the sitting pose is not actually appropriate, There is a standard set for a lady’s when they sit, and the spreading of one’s legs, as wide as you have done in the sitting picture is not appropriate!

Whosoever influenced, or advised you to sit and spread your legs so far apart has done you an injustice, model or simply a decent human has ways in which to conduct themselves. You remind me of someone I know from your village, a former beauty queen on the island of Antigua, now a resident of the United States.

With that said I wish you all the success, nonetheless a modeling career in Dominica is unlikely!

Paris, Milan, London, or the United States you may have a good chance of success if you get connected to an honest and clean agent, one who will not get you hooked on drugs.

Out of the poorest, and most backward parts of Africa, came many black models, if they were discovered, and made it; so can you!

Congratulations Lyna! All the best! However DNO,your wording for the third paragraph is wrong. There were 5 segments judged: Introduction, Swimwear, ProfessIonal/Interview,High Fashion and photographs taken previously.

She Won Intro, Photograph and IntervieW.
Swimwear won by Earlisha BrumanT, High Fashion by Reshema James and also best on the runway was won by Kersha Breeze. :)

    Great job ladies!

Congratulations! It’s quite obvious that the best girl won! For Lynah has all the qualities necessary (elegance, brains, beauty & style & poise!) to represent Dominica to the outside world when the time is right! It’s about time we had a representative in beauty from Dominica! The other Caribbean islands have had theirs from time!! Well done young lady, hold your head up high & walk tall!!

  31. May 11, 2013

This is for the the person name”Jesus we need mercy” why should she be ashamed of herself.it better not be Lynah you talking about ,I don’t know who you are but you sound like a real hater ,insecure looser. If there was something about her to be ashamed off she would not exposed her entire life before Dominica and maybe the Caribbean .you should be ashamed of yourself go and find a life of your own and stop fighting with yourself .i guess you watch the whole show and couldn’t take it that You still remain the insecure person that u are,

She could pass for a guy with that strong face. Or most dominican women look like that,so she’s ok.. She would be an ‘exotic’ to the model industry that counts.

Congratulations to Miss Lynah Bontiff on your successfully showcasing your style, attitude, intelligence and talent ….an excellent display by all accounts.

I would also like to extend my sincere admiration and respect to Ruth Lea Augustine for her vision, tenacity, perseverance and determination in putting together such a challenging and creative event. Much ” kudos ” to you and your organization, Dominica’s Next Top Model, Inc.

I viewed the show online at home in D/ca and the girls were good and confident, but the winner deserves it. Great Job Lynah. And congrats to the organisers we doh need an ‘America’s Top Model thing,” let us learn to be local, show local and promote local DA/Caribbean style!
