Chairman of the Dominica Festival Committee (DFC), Colin Piper, has commended a local company for offering sponsorship of a contestant in the Miss Dominica Pageant.
Dutch Lady Power Shake in partnership with J.Astaphan & Co. Ltd announced on Friday that it will provide full sponsorship ,valued at $15,500 in cash and kind, to Goodwill resident Jeanne Royer.
This is the first company to fully sponsor a contestant in the 2013 pageant.
Piper said J. Astaphan & Co. Ltd will reap tremendous benefits from the sponsorship and the gesture shows that the company has high confidence in the pageant.
“J.Astaphan & Co. Ltd as the first corperate sponsor to partner with the Dominica Festivals Committee for the 2013 Carnival Queen Pageant will have more advantages… they will receive key value for their investment and can utilize Jeanne’s services throughout the year,” he said.
Meantime Jeanne Royer, who made her first speech as Miss J.Astaphan & Co. Ltd and Dutch Lady, said she was pleased to be sponsored by Dutch Lady, a household name from her childhood.
The other six competitors in the pageant are: Kelshia Breezie- St. Joseph, Leslassa Armour-Shillingford- Castle Comfort, Fatima Noel- San Sauveur, Melinda Ulysses- Stockfarm, Nickisha Philbert- Laudat, Daina Matthew- Canefield.
The Miss Dominica pageant is set for Friday, February 08, 2013.
