Local band Triple Kay has released a new Compa single which manager Emile De Pooter says is a response to fans who have been asking for ‘the authentic Triple Kay.’
“If you go back to the album ‘Fanatik’, those are the types of songs the band used to play,” he told Dominica News Online.
According to De Pooter, one of the group members who used to produce and sing Compa or Zouk had left Dominica for some time and hence Triple Kay could not release any of these songs.
“Now that he is back and the fans have been asking for it, so we are giving it to them,” he stated.
The band manager noted that Triple Kay has been the subject of criticism in recent times concerning certain utterances during live performances and the band is trying to keep that under control.
“I the manager of the band does not own any one of those lives, so we trying to keep that under control,” he noted. “This is not exactly what we want to send out to the public. We want to do the recorded songs and give the general public something which is more of an international standard.”
He said the band plans to release more Compa songs soon. “This is the first out of many,” he pointed out. “There are about three or four more in the studio to come out of that Compa beat. So it will not be a one off thing that you see coming from Triple Kay, it is going to be a continuous thing.”
However, De Pooter promised that the band will continue to play Bouyon since it wants to “have a repertoire that will please everybody.”
“You definitely will hear Bouyon because the majority of the Triple Kay fans right now are the younger people, the more energetic people,” he remarked. “But you will come to a Triple Kay event now and get a full repertoire of different genres.”
He said the band’s Bouyon lyrics will be much cleaner. “We’ve listened to the critics, the constructive criticisms,” De Pooter said. “And the same way we got the constructive criticism and we listened and responded and deliver, it is the same way it would be nice the people give the band members the same sort of feedback.”
The song is entitle ‘Pou yo.’
Listen to it below.
Respect triple kay
Why for once you guys can’t complement somting good u dominicans always find a way to criticize good work triple kay n I look forward to some more good music big up ticky n great producing kendel true talent
This is a copy of Carimi. Plagarisation means cheating. This is clearly a plagarised song from Carimi. The melody, the musical arrangement and the lyrics even have Carimi stuff in it. Triple Kay needs their own identity
muzic is life with triple kay.. boyyyyyyyyyyy
You know thatt! KKK they know how to live (yo konnet vive) so STOP HATING! Keep calm and let kkk vive plzz. One life to live.
thats what we talking about, heard them perform a couple zouk songs live in new york and from what i hear they can give any band a run when they play that style. now all they got to do is mix these vibes with cadence. and you will have some proper music. and by the way keep the kudos for the creole lyrics. it kind of a shame the whole band relies on one member to make a song in creole though. we should be getting music like this all the time.
I have not listened to track yet, however i like the managers comment. He is mindfull that the current music will only remain in Dominica. Kompa is a good start and would like to also see two or three well arranged cadance on every album. No one expects them to stop the bouyon we just need songs with better melody and literature.
There is no dout the guys are talented but to me thier was not enough effort into music and they sounded like a lapocabrit that have rythym and base.
you guys need to take time listening to gramacks and Billo – men music how cadence beening played they rock the market with cadence.midnight groovers was king of cadence but they were not successful like those band.I would love to see you guys rock the market but with this imitation music sounds to much like a haitain band,I like haitians band i like compa, may advice too you guys try play cadence, zimpine, bouyon bet like wck did
yeah good idea. go back to playing sensible music and give our country a good name. Create an authentic D/can style of sensible music. someone commented on tripple-kay’s music some time ago and said about u guys singing a song about “go and borga”(excuse my french). this is so defamatory…terrible. show the kids the right way tripple -k show them what it means to be dominican, teach them through ur music. stop forming the fool, and please begin filling the form.
Real music ticky
really nice music but sounds like carimi. I would say, sing clean and great like that, but on our boyon music. Stick to our roots. Way to go, much better than the unclean chant
SELL OFF ! MAD !
Nice track!!! Now if you guys can put all this effort in Konpa, then I expect even greater effort in our Kadance and the Bouyon. Go back to playing the real Bouyon and not the junk stuff then I have been hearing. LISTEN TO THE CRY OF THE PEOPLE. Then, I will start buying and enjoying the music again.
yes that is a compa not a zouk
alphil for lead singer me say!!!!
Good music. I loove ALL triple kay music. Keep it up boys!
All Triple K music great! there will always be critics no matter what. This is a great band just keep on doing your best you are one of a kind
kkk all the way luv ya

Agreed.
its a nice track, i’m a die hard ck but if you love music you’ll give dem their props on dat one
true dhat
wait ah triple dat you guys really sounding good when it’s good you have to say so.BIG TUNEEEE LOVE IT TO THE MAXXXXXX
This sound more like music….Triple K — very Nice . Do more like this I will be at your jams!!
sau vle, dance with me, crevice, bring back tunes like these man, i mean everybody talking about them nonsense all you playing, unless all u expect to play for the gutter rats in da alone and never tour, man.
To be honest i am a mad lover of bouyon and cadence music, i live in the bvi and it hurts me when ever wck and tripple kay come and perform there, i am trying to identify the music that those guys play today and i come up with a very familiar name, “koshornie”, thats all they play now, gone are the days when they use to play bouyon music, come on tripple kay, look back and FANATIK album, what happen to music like that, i am so mad and disgust with the foolishness they play now and trying to say is bouyon, only 3 bands in dominica you could go to a dance and dance to the music, groovers, swinging stars and fanatik band, i am so mad that the pioneers of bouyon music has strayed deeply away from what we once was proud of and called our own, BOUYON MUSIC, mas as hell.
Triple K released a Kompa single and they immediately sounded civilized and cultured.
I say its time we bang Bouyon crap and lets encourage the civilization of Dominicans
The attitude would change, the culture, the respect, the dressing and even the eating, more salad and fish and red wine.
I agree with ur point except to ban bouyon music. Bouyon is our culture and it is unique. They just need to come back to the ORIGINAL bouyon like what ck use to sing back in the days.
That’s a nice tune
You guys are jokes can you folks see is an imitation i love compa but to say is what the people asking for is a joke make us proud with our cadence music real bouyou in a positive way like how the wck did before.
This sounds a bit, (maybe more than a bit) like Carimi. The Keyboards rhythm and shout out has that Carimi flavour. However Compa is Compa. That being said I actually listened to the tune because there was some nice music to it. If they would put that good rhythm and music to their bouyon tunes and cut out the bad lyrics and noise then most folks would enjoy.
its about time kkk…back to real music….alphil for lead singer..
datz the triple kay i kno…put alphil as lead singer n remove benji…..
it sounds great but to me is an imitation you guys sound too much like a haitian band though i like compa our real music are cadence and bouyou, wck had the market before and they mess it up,folks my advince to you guys find a solution to play real cadence music and real bouyou music positive way if you guys want to hit the market like how the gramacks did in the late 70s and 80s.
This is the Triple K i knew….not what it is now….great vibes and keep them coming
sounds good triple kay. i’m proud
Now y cant KKK bring out songs like that all the time? Ticky for lead singer and forget N2O
I want to hear more like that from Triple Kay. Songs like that can give the band recognition in other countries. Making songs for little gataywass cannot bring all you nowhere.
we not hatians
compa is not only for hatians OK!
