WCMF gets three more sponsors

Three more sponsors have come on board for the 16th edition of the annual World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).

Tropical Shipping, Josephine Gabriel & Sons agents for Heineken Beer and L’Express Des Iles have all pledged their support to the three-day event carded for the 26th-28th October.

Vice President of the WCMF, Sobers Espirit, said at a Wednesday press conference that all three business have been key sponsors of the event for the past sixteen (16) years.

Hans Victor representative for L’express Des Iles, said more calls to Dominica have been added to the ferry’s regular schedule around the time of the event.  Moreover, the company has started promotions in the French islands where persons are given the opportunity to win complimentary tickets to the festival and a ticket to Dominica.

It was also revealed at Wednesday’s press conference that National Co-operative Credit Union (NCCU) Cadence-lypso finalists have been scheduled to perform at the second Festival Dwivye on 5th October.

Chairman of the NCCU board of directors NCCU, Dexter Ducreay, said that the finalist will be performing at each of the dwivyes and the winner of the competition will be performing on the grand stage of the WCMF.

Ducreay said a road show to promote the event will be done on October 6 and all cadence lovers will receive a 25 percent discount on tickets to the October 20th show.

Meanwhile Wadix Charles informed the media that the response from the French Antilles to the 2012 WCMF has been overwhelming.  Fresh from a promotional trip to Guadeloupe, Charles said he is satisfied with the level of enthusiasm the people of the island have for the festival. Charles reported that tickets for the festival have already been booked.

He revealed that Haitians living in Dominica are excited about the festival line-up and he urged Dominicans to support the show by attending at least one night.

“Vice President of the WCMF, Sobers Espirit, said at a Wednesday press conference that all three business have been key sponsors of the event for the past sixteen (16) years.”

If they have been key sponsors for the past 16 years, how can they come on board now? “Three more” indicates that there new sponsors.
As usual, open mouth insert foot from our talented Mr S.

Boss, why the chinese not sponsoring the event? They have more businesses than locals? Soon if we continue down the road to kill our local business this festival will die a painful death or we will loose it!!

Open your eyes Dominicans. Get our local business to make money, open opportunities for the local business to grow, get the agriculture back on track and the country will move. Its sad even the locals have no money to attend ONE show???/

Social Security tell us how much money you loosing…no local business and few Chinese businesses pay social security. Soon when they cant make money they will run and leave us in our LABOOO….
