The Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC) and the Environmental Club of the Convent High School (CHS) have embarked on an initiative geared at tackling waste in Roseau.
Part of the initiative include the adoption of a section of Bath Road.
That initiative was launched at the Convent High School on Wednesday during a special assembly.
“We are going to adopt that area. We are going to give attention to it,” Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the DSWMC Jeno Jacob said.
Following the assembly students, along with other officials, also planted trees in the section adopted.
Meantime Jacob said the DSWMC will be teaming up with Platinum Security to capture persons who tend to litter during the Carnival celebrations.
“This time, it’s not a joke, if you think you are going to litter the environment and we won’t capture you, we will,” Jacob warned. “We won’t tell you where the cameras will be placed.”
More Chinese = more waste and rats.
Cong.ats to DSWMC The Convent High School and Platinum Security. Wish you all every succes.
Solid Waste, City Council, Tourism Department, Minister for Tourism – you just have not gotten it. Do you see the city is cleaner after putting all the lovely green bins around the street corners? People are still dropping the garbage on the ground – lack of education and pride for cleanliness. The most important thing is to educate the people and put some harsh penalties to stop them from keeping our streets like their dirty bedrooms and kitchens. Punish them harshly. It is sickening me – to the point that I wish I could move to another island where people understand that a clean city/country is the image of the people.!!!!
I will be that guy….. unless Dominicans start to take pride in their country it will continue to be the dirtiest Caribbean island….
I wish I could dislike this disgusting comment a million times….Shame on you!!
go wash your hands and your dirty mouth cause you are a Dominican too.
