Four Dominicans busted for drugs & illegal entry, in Guadeloupe

drug-bust2Four Dominicans have been arrested in Guadeloupe for trying to enter that country illegally with 67 kilograms (approximately 130 pounds) of cannabis.

According to French newspaper, France Antilles, the arrests were made last week near a lighthouse at Old Fort and while this was not the biggest catch made by the Saint Claude police, it was a significant haul, the paper said.

The France Antilles report said French soldiers were conducting a surveillance operation when, at about 11.00pm, they surprised the group during a landing at the Old Fort lighthouse in Saint Claude.

They said a boat dropped off the men and some bags without even docking, before returning to sea.

The four Dominicans who, according to the report, all initially gave false identities, were intercepted with their illegal cargo and placed in custody for importing narcotics and illegal entry into the country.

It said the four traffickers, aged 32 to 40 years, were expected to be tried in a criminal court in Basseterre this week.

in my honest opinion, i really don’t blame them completely … even as a teen, i’m quite aware of what is going on in our economy … we constantly speak on the issue of unemployment and i have witnessed first hand how brutally frustrating is is to be unemployed in our somewhat underdeveloped economy … in hindsight there was a lot that could have been done in the past to provide for the present but opportunities were ignored and consequently i guess, we have 2 major options … working in some office (education required) or slaving away to shrivelling crops beneath the hot sun (manual labour required) … i guess they saw no other option for themselves

These are legitimate points, not negative comments. These fools had no right or authority to try and smuggle anything into someone’s back yard. These guys did not have permission to enter the country in the first place. I agree that they have a right to use what ever substance they choose to, but once you intrude into someone’s yard with your none sense, you have to bear the consequences and pay the penalties when caught.

Listen here. I have an 18 year old son and I did not raise him to be anything other than an upright citizen. If he ever is as foolish as that to go dealing drugs, I hope that they lock his arse up, let alone someone who I don’t even know. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for drug dealers.

What can we do as Dominicans to prevent our people from turning to drugs? Why do they go in drugs? Is it economics? Is it our standard of living? Satisfied people will not turn to a life of crime. :-?

Nothing, except to keep spreading the message on “say no to drugs” and educate your offspring. This is not a “Dominica problem”, it’s a global issue

Please Guadeloupians, keep these our drug people in your jails – don’t send them back to us. Please! We don’t want them.

  18. November 6, 2013

They do not learn, they WILL NOT LEARN. I hope the person that dropped them off was among the four. This is ridiculous. Keep your mess in your bedroom. Everywhere has their own mess to deal with.

“They said a boat dropped off the men and some bags without even docking, before returning to sea” The person doing the “drop off” could not possibly be one of the 4. I think these guys need to be tried and locked up for entering another country illegally, while at the same instance smuggling weed. I’m a Rastaman but I think this is insanely ridiculous! Why can’t people just use herbs for their personal use and beliefs and stop being so darn stupid and ignorant? :-|
