The Cayman Islands Government has sent US$500,000 to Dominica to assist in recovery efforts following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika.

“I really do think this is something we must do,” Cayman Islands Premier, Alden McLaughlin, said in making announcement earlier this week. “We know devastation first-hand. They are our brothers and sisters too.”

He said he has been in regular contact with Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, who said more than 370 homes in Dominica are partially damaged or destroyed and two communities have had to be evacuated because of instability of the soil and risk to homes.

McLaughlin also urged Cayman’s residents to help in the effort to get dry food items and other necessities, including cash donations, to assist those in need. If enough goods are collected, Cayman Airways will send the items to Dominica via a nearby island because of the condition of the main airport,

In a letter to Skerrit, McLaughlin wrote: “There is little doubt that the past few weeks have perhaps been some of the most challenging times in Dominica’s modern history. However, as Caribbean people, resilience is embedded in our DNA and as your forbearers did on many occasions before, you too will rebuild. Regrettably, we have been there too. The powerful images and heart wrenching stories that have been shared with us bring to mind hurricanes Ivan and Paloma and our own vivid memories of the struggle to recover.”

Amen to that contribution and lets not go down in history like what was done in Haiti with the miss management of the monies etc. Things need to be in place to see receipt of all transactions of funding being donated and it out come of its use. I guess my suggestion is a fare cry hence the naturism of how things go down in Dominica. I’m asking God to take the wheel on this one.

Thank God for all these donations. However, money and donation CANNOT build a nation, God is the builder of all things. We need to look to Him and not those evil, ungodly, corrupt politicians that told us recently to keep our eyes on them. Evil they are! Corrupt the are and they will be judged except they amend their ways before God.
Our nation is destroyed, not by Erica, but by the EVIL ways of our politicians and just as God used the donkey to talk to Balaam three times, in Numbers 22:21-39,when Balaam was bent on going his evil way, so to God used Erica to warn this nation. I know some will say Dominica is not the most evil nation. That is true, but we are one of the most Corrupt nations and what makes it worse is the fact that so many good people and God fearing people are part of this corrupt movement that is destroying Dominica. The watchmen have not only fallen asleep, but they too have become part of the problem. Rom. 1:18-21 is very clear. Thanks for donation but remember God
