The staff of CIBC FirstCaribbean is raising funds to assist the Dominica Cancer Society.  The staff has planned a number of activities for which it is soliciting the public assistance. For the next four Fridays the staff will put on an event at which all funds raised will go towards the work of the Cancer society. For the past few years CIBC FirstCaribbean staff has been assisting the Society in its fund-raising efforts and participating in its walk for cure.

The activities commenced with a cake sale on Friday 26th September.  On October 3rd the staff has an innovative fund-raiser dubbed colors of cancer in which staff are to think of original ideas to highlight the various colors of cancer.  The winner is to double the amount of votes received and make a cash award of that amount. A domino and barbeque night and a Jazz and Poetry night are the other activities planned.

Staff sees this as their social responsibility to the wider society. Mrs. Rhona Lawrence, Business Support Officer at the bank who oversees the fund raising activities says that the fund raisers are all staff ideas and that all money raised will go to the Dominica Cancer Society to assist in the effort to relieve the suffering of cancer patients.

And where does this money that is collected really go? I would guess the pharmaceutical companies, who will never reverse cancer because it is not on the agenda. So in DA I guess that it is going to palliative care in helping people to die without so much pain.
Cancer is a systemic disease, not a localized one.
