DAEC disappointed in US gay ruling; calls for prayer

President of the Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DAEC) Pastor Arlington Wilson say he is placing on the records their disappointment with a ruling by the United States Supreme Court which makes same sex-marriage legal across the US and is urging the country to pray that small island states, like Dominica, do not get pressured to do the same.

He said as a Christian nation Dominica should not accept same-sex marriages.

“We as a Christian nation cannot and should not accept that kind of ruling and we got to pray that pressure doesn’t fall on the Caribbean islands because it is said when America say something, then it compels other Caribbean states to agree to it less we suffer the consequences seeing that we are developing nations,” he told Dominica News Online (DNO) on Wednesday.

Wilson is optimistic that God will work “it out” in the entire matter.

“Nonetheless we believe in a great God and we believe that he is able to work it out for us. I am in total disagreement to what has been done and I also ask that we stand strong as Christian nations and continue to reject that kind of ruling,” he said.

The US ruling was made on Friday 26th June 2015 which ended what observers say was one of the major civil rights fights of this era which started 46 years ago at a riot at New York’s Stonewall Inn, which ushered in the modern gay rights movement.

Locally, Coordinator of Minority Rights Dominica (MIRIDOM), Daryl Phillip, has expressed his pleasure at the ruling and suggested that Dominica should do the same.

He argued that whatever happens behind closed doors is essentially nobody’s concern, and said the religious community should not try to impose their belief on others.

But Wilson said while this is true, many people from the gay community also try to force their beliefs on others.

“They and their doctrines have a tendency to infiltrate other people’s rights because they would like to get other people to support them by trying to convince them,” he argued. “That is why I said it is an attack on humanity, because while they are saying it is their right, it will not stay within their borders but they will try to enlarge their borders.”

He said what MIRIDOM is doing in Dominica is dishonest.

“Therefore if they feel that the Evangelical Churches or any other person is trying to infringe on their rights, they too are doing similarly because that is what they are trying to do is to get government to repeal that law to give them the opportunity to do as they wish,” he said.

He vowed to continue to preach the message of Godliness and holiness.

“So we are charged with the responsibility to caution our people because the scripture made it clear that everyone will stand before the judgement seat of Christ and give an account of the things that we have done,” he remarked. “And if at all that happens in Dominica, whoever government that agrees to that will fall, but certainly it would be a sad day for us in Dominica if at all the government will consent to that.”

We wrestle not against flesh and blood but we wrestle against principalities, powers, the rulers of darkness,(listen up here) OF THIS WORLD,also spiritual wickedness in high places.
How can you tell me that you’re disappointed in the U.S Supreme court ruling over same sex marriage. Are you for real. Here’s the child of GOD enemy: the WORLD,the flesh and the devil. Sometimes I wonder how serious we;re taking GOD and HIS word. May I remind you that’s also the law of the land in France and that would include her departments. That means to your north and south,Guadeloupe and Martinique it’s also their law.
Sometimes I wonder if Noah behaved as we would have behaved today.I doubt that, since only he and his immediate family, eight souls and a bunch of animals were saved. The same goes for Lot,which was even more hopeless .It will continue to be the law of the land in many more countries. And whether it’s the law of the land or it’s practiced in secret to the Most High GOD,it’s the same…

The world is changing. It comforts some to think that some apocalyptic event will wipe out every living homosexual on the planet (and possibly in other galaxies while he’s at it). Who knows? Maybe God (whatever form he might take: Allah, Jesus, The holy Trinity, Jehovah, Jah, Jahweh…) will decide to take matters into his own hands and strike down (or convert) those heathen homosexuals. Or (just a thought), maybe he’ll decide to take care of matters more urgent than who loves who and wipe out the monster organizations led by money mongering humans who are literally wiping out our food sources on the planet, causing massive extinction of thousands of animal and plant species. Maybe he’ll in fact send in the four horsemen and annihilate hate, poverty, suffering, child slavery and human gluttony. Maybe. And then maybe he’ll tackle that annoying issue of all those people who decide (for some strange reason) to fall in love with someone of the same sex. Until that happens, well…

‘It comforts some to think that some apocalyptic event will wipe out every living homosexual on the planet (and possibly in other galaxies while he’s at it).’

What the what? This is Christian love? Wishing that other human beings will be exterminated?

This kind of rhetoric is unacceptable from anyone calling themselves a loving, decent human being–and, even though I’m not religious, I’d challenge you to dare say Jesus would ever make so crude and evil a statement.

I accidentally posted the last comment before finishing it.

Now, I realise this comment is *probably* meant to be clever and ironic–but the sad thing is that the wickedness of that sentiment about exterminating people is not at all different from what too many ‘loving’ Christians express. And that saddens and infuriates me.

Yes, there are many wrongs, sins, injustices, and much corruption in our world.

As Christians we are aware of these things. We do not condone these things, nor do we accept them.

Yet we are far from perfect. Sometimes (too often) we sin. When we do it is necessary for us to confess our sins to God. Even as we are confessing we are claiming and accepting by faith the cleansing of His precious blood. If you want to know how Christians deal with sin please read 1 John 1:7-10 and 1 John 2:1.

All sins can be forgiven by Christ, and cleansed by His blood. In the churches of the first century A.D. there were Christians who had been saved out of terrible lives of sin. Please read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Note verse 11. “And such WERE some of you. But ye ARE washed, …”

All sin is sin. But homosexuality has several unique characteristics.

        (1) It is a sin against nature according to Romans 1:26,27.

        (2) It is sin that violates the model God gave us for marriage which is one man with one woman for as long as they both shall live according to Matthew 19:4-6.

Anything that violate this bluepint is something God takes very seriously. Why? Because the marriage of a man and a woman is symbolic or representative of Christ and the church. This is known to Christians as a “type” which is like a natural picture that illustrates a spiritual lesson.
        Please read Ephesians 5:22-33.

Satan hates to see a successful marriage between a man and a woman who love each other in a caring and lasting relationship. It reminds him of Christ and the church! He will do everything possible to damage the picture that reminds him of his eventual doom.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Why are the churches and Christians complaining now? The people been fighting and protesting for years, the churches and Christians kept their peace. The Catholic Church and the other churches join together could have protested, instead your main goal is passing the collection plate.
Prevention is better than cure, you had the power to do something before it happen, even if you fail at least you tried.
Why couldn’t you do something about it? You stay there and let it happen, the gay people fought for their rights like their life depended on it.what did you fight for today? What or whom are you going to fight for tomorrow?

Are there any educated people in Dominica who aren’t religous fanatics, who can quote from secular literature (has anyone read anything but the Bible?), and who has a basic understanding of science? Because most of the commenters down here are a disgrace to the intellect.

They like thinking in terms of conspiracies–‘gay agendas’–rather than facts. They like searching fringe websites that confirm their preconceived notions rather than reading dissenting opinions. (I am well-educated on both sides of issues like this.) They shut down their mind whenever contrary notions appear. They often lack basic grammatical skills. They think the Bible is literally true–which is not remotely possible. (You really believe in Noah’s Ark? In the 21st century? REALLY?)

And yet you wonder why those of us who leave Dominica for an education do not always come back. Many of us WANT to come back to help but are put off by people like you who make our jobs and santity so difficult to maintain.

Gabby, lumping people into one group because of their beliefs or a shared characteristic then proceeding to denigrate that group is discrimination of the worst kind – something you seem to be against. Obviously there are educated Dominicans who are not religious fanatics – you do understand there is a difference between faith and religion don’t you? Well if you do, illustrate that when you make these comments. I sympathize with your frustration, Dominica is a homophobic and often hypocritical society but that alone doesn’t validate your argument though. As a proponent of scientific methodology, you know more is required for verification of your claims. Additionally you make these general derogatory comments but you have not acknowledged or responded to my response to you elsewhere on this site, here perhaps you missed it: https://dominicanewsonline.com/news/homepage/news/general/miridom-pleased-with-us-gay-ruling-says-dominica-should-follow-suit/

I am a well-educated diaspora Dominican who believes the Bible is literally true. As such, I am obligated to stand up for what I believe.

To those who love to point out the presence of other sins in society, I say that their practitioners are not lobbying for those activities to be enshrined in the legal system as rights. Also, are you aware that in North America, being gay is compared to being black? How on earth do the two equate?

Gabby, education is supposed to teach us to respect each others beliefs. Obviously, you may be well informed and trained, but not educated. After all, another classical definition of “educated” is “having good manners or being classy”. Sadly, many who consider themselves educated, lack the training to maintain a mannerly dialogue.

I go to university in America, so I am well-aware of American ideas. Racial discrimination is a civil rights issue, just like discrimination against sexual orientation. Neither race nor orientation is something we choose. The two aren’t exactly the same in that it is obviously harder to hide one’s skin colour, but the discrimination is largely the same: people calling for bigoted marginalisation of people who had no choice in being who they are, with this bigotry usually coming from religious beliefs (opponents of interracial marriage in the U. S. cited the Bible as their reason for their bigotry in a number of cases).

Moreover, if you think the Bible is ‘literally true’ and you call yourelf educated, you clearly have very little of an education. I can only hope you aren’t a Young Earth Creationist as well, given how absurdly unscientific and embarrassing such a view is to anyone who understands the age of the Earth, how historians work, and basic evolutionary science.

“Other religions are similar and if you carefully observing international affairs and politics, then you can easily see that religion is the instrument of propaganda and indoctrination of people”—Tor July 1, 2015

    “Tor” I agree with you!

However like the rest of the world–even Christians–you have blended the Church of Jesus Christ–yes we are His, for He said to Peter: “Upon this Rock I will build My Church”, that Rock was Peter’s Faith. Jesus built His Church through Peter, John, Paul, and the others–by the guidance of Holy Spirit.

The Jews play religion”, but the dull and the ignorant say “the Christian Religion”, because they do not know the base of “Christianity”–Christianity is a relationship with God Almighty, through Jesus Christ–not a religion. That is what Jesus means when He says to us:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My Voice and opens the door, I will come in to eat with him and he with Me”–think about this!

    • July 4, 2015

      This is an excellent comment!

All religions try to indoctrinate people. Obviously, that is how they gain followers.

True Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship with God through Jesus Christ because “… as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the children of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12)

We “indoctrinate” people because Christ said “… … Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) We don’t call it indoctrination. We call it evangelism.

The Bible also tells us “… … “there shall be false teachers among you , who secretly shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” (2 Peter 2:1)

      How can we recognize them?

The Bible says “To the law and to the testimony: If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:20)

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald…

I thank God the DAEC stands up and speaks out for the truth contained in the Holy Scriptures regarding homosexuality.

The decision of the Supreme Court of America to legalize same sex marriages nation wide will have repercussions in other countries.

It will affect nations where homosexuality is illegal. What will happen in Dominica when a same sex “couple” visit your country and go to a hotel to get a room?

America may use the fact that a small developing nation refuses to move ahead with “gay rights” as an excuse not to give financial assistance to that nation.

We can be sure America will put pressure on the island nations of the Caribbean to drop any anti-gay laws they have and legalize same sex marriages. The size of the USA and its place on the world stage gives it the tendency to bully smaller nations.

Let us remember this is a spiritual battle (Ephesians 6:10-18) best fought by prayer and UNCOMPROMISED loyalty to the Word or God.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald…

        Hummingbird:

Your point is well taken. We should have said more sooner.

        But here is the problem.

We have always preached and taught that homosexuality and ALL other sins are wrong and should be avoided as we expounded such scriptures as Romans 1:22-32, and 1 Corinthians 6:9,10. But in those days not much was said about homosexuality. There was no obvious reason for pastors to focus upon it in particular. If we had done so it would have been considered over-kill. We would have been giving it more attention than it deserved, and people would have said we were neglecting to preach more important things.

Then suddenly there was a homosexual explosion when these people began fighting for “gay rights” such as marriage and adoption “rights”. etc. Now ministers like myself are doing our best to counter this incoming tide of immorality. We appreciate all people who are standing for righteousness by speaking out.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

i notice a number of us are highly critical of the bible, and it is your god given freewill to so do, however may i suggest that to give validity to your criticisms it would be good to study (not just read) the bible from cover to cover at least seven times during which time you varify by way of historical, geographical, and archeological references the prophetic and historical accuracy of the word of god. too many times i listen to people criticize god’s word without reading from cover to cover once. too me that is so foolish to be criticizing something you have never read in its entirety. my challenge to all the bible critics and gay rights proponents is to study the bible from cover to cover with an open mind then come and criticize if you are able to. stop criticizing what you know nothing about, that’s very very very stupid as stupid can be. god wants us to be wise according to his wisdom manifested through his word. study the word it is really a life saving activity.

The Bible teaches that the fool said in his heart there is no God!

I do not know who you are, nevertheless if you are as smart as you thing you are; I can tell I can tell you there are children who could teach you a few things that your brain would not be able to process.

If you were as smart as you think you are, you would know that the Bible is a book of History, Science, and also a book of Prophecy; all combined. I suggest you take some time out and read it. Be advised if you think you can use your intellect, or want to be intellectual about it you will never understand what you read.

Humble your self like a kid learning to talk, then you will have an experience of your life, you will discover how long you’ve been living in total darkness!

Don’t you know, or haven’t you heard that the majority of scientist alive today believes in the Supreme God. If you think for one moment that the Bible is not real find something in there which it said would happen that has not…

@Gabby July 2, 2015 “there is a world outside of the Bible, and the world won’t end if you aren’t a fanatical evangelist”

Man or woman, in the place, the world which you claim is outside of the Bible, is that which you live in and belong to, unfortunately you and your world is passing away.

You need to stop this; for you are not helping to improve the hope of mankind, with your stupidity, however I expect this from individuals like you

The Bible contains every aspect of Life that man will even research and write–that is because the Bible is God’s Words, the message of Life ; God created man to exemplify His Authority and Power, to stay in Life –as is spoken in the Bible.

The problem with man is that he does not honor God in His work, people like you, fail to understand who is or was the Power behind what your fellow man does–the good things or the things of Love–so you honor man instead of God–you will have your reward at God’s appointed time for you.

I am following this discussion and we all seem to be missing the main point at the center of the issue. At the center if this issue is the question of obedience to God vesus obedience to self. The non Christian will never understand the concept of self denial. God gave us laws or guidelines by which can live lives to our fullest potential in love peace and harmony. Man decides as a result of lust and personal instant gratification to change God laws to please his personal selfish desires. Does man know about man better than God? Supporters of gay right see the Creator God as a liar who they are smarter than. Whether or not we believe in God and His Word, God will still be the unchanging God and His Word will remain sure and come to pass. It is so amazing that when you study Leviticus 18:22-30 and Romans 1:18-28 you see the historical record of the consequences faced by nations for the practice of homosexuality as well as a prediction of the foolish aguements use in support of the SIN.

  23. July 1, 2015

I am saying this with boldness, that the majority of you who are commanding the Pastor to preach God’s Word–that is exactly what he has done here, speaking his mind according to God’s Laws to the public. He has said to you all, that homosexual conducts has no part in the “Universal Laws of God”–and God’s Laws is for all human beings–not just Christians,

But then again, as the natural man, in this world, who cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God, you all are stupidly rejecting the Pastor’s public message. How many of you partake with his Church to hear the Word of God, which speaks to upgrade the mentality of the mind, as God wants the mind condition to be in you—all of you should be ashamed of yourselves, because of that severe carnal mind which you maintain–take it or leave it.

The Pastor is disappointed with that Gay Ruling by the Court of the USA; the same way that God is disappointed with you all’s mentality–stop provoking His wrath!

    • July 1, 2015

“They too are doing similarly because that is what they are trying to do is to get government to repeal that law to give them the opportunity to do as they wish,” he said” News Article

That is the problem here. No matter what a person is doing if he/she knows that the majority of his/her environment do not approve of his/her “deed” that person can never feel comfortable with him/her self.

And that is the mentality of homosexual’s; for deep down in their heart they know that what they are doing is unacceptable before a God of holiness; and so, God’s disappoint of their behavior will show in those of us with reverend fear of Him–and I am saying that this “those of us” are not just Christians–because not every one who claims Christianity is a person of God.

I said in my top message, God’s Law is the Universal Law–this means it is for all Nations-regardless of race, color, and creed! God’s Law is above every Law of this world–but He gave man “free will”

    • July 1, 2015

And since God created man in His image–the soul, and His Likeness–Light in Love, even if man has lost most of that “Likeness of God”; there is still a small part of it just waiting to be rekindled, like a small coal of fire–but this will only happen without the hardness of man’s heart.

My point? It is that wee small part of God in the minds of homosexuals which makes them feel guilty and uncomfortable about their conduct, in that the majority of the rest of us have rejected that behavior.

And so, as the Pastor said, they want reaffirmation, they want rights, they want marriage. they want this, that, and the other acceptance–so to feel comfortable about their nasty and sinful behavior.

Does this guy not know how the law works? Sounds like MIRIDOM is taking the legal and necessary steps to try to tackle inequality. They are going about it in a straight forward, open fashion. This president needs to hire a secretary with all the money churches take from poor communities, and use it to properly form statements for the press.

    Then there is this:

“They and their doctrines have a tendency to infiltrate other people’s rights because they would like to get other people to support them by trying to convince them,” he argued.

This is the kind of crap that people in the church will believe. Mr. President, if you want to lead the church in the right manner, don’t cast hate on others…

You are joking. How can you expect a Church to do something as that? You are not a faithful Catholic. You appear to be one of those who pick and choose what you want to believe and practice and not the Doctrine and religious teaching of the Catholic Church..
You are a bad example to exactly what Christian churches oppose, recognition of same sex relationships and same sex so-called marriages.
Do you not know that God has heard what you stated? You are not on the side of God and the Church. You want it to go against its teaching. Shame on you. You need to repent and to go to Confession and to make penance and sacrifice.
Some people want the best of two worlds. If you know who they are who practice this abomination and go to Church, you should speak to them. Better yet, speak to the Priest or Bishop. Write them. They should be told. You should also take it to the Lord in prayer. This is how a faithful Catholic will handle this situation.

Did you read or here his views regarding homosexual priest in their religion? The man is tolerant to homosexual priest in his church.

How can one say it is okay to practice homosexuality, and to preach God to people when God himself condemns homosexual acts, he destroyed so many of them.

If God had no tolerance for that filth more than two thousand years ago who is Francis to say it is okay to be homosexual!

I’m sorry to say it to you but you are not a true Catholic much less a true Chistian. Because the Word of God is clear when in comes to homosexuality. Very clear. And the Word of God is unchanging. It does not blend to suit the times and fashions or the whims of man. We as Christians have been given a free will by God but with this comes responsibility and consequence. The Church must continue to preach against this and all sin. It is her responsibibililty.

Any true Christian will admit and submit to the will of the Father and though we are not perfect we must not use that as an excuse to drown ourselves in the abiss of sin. Obedience to God is our mission: To know him, to love him, to serve him.

Acts 11: 26 Said: “And the disciples were called Christians at Antioch” Why? Because the disciples were those who accepted Jesus Christ, not only of the Nation of Israel–the were from all the Nations–Jews and Gentiles.

The Bible does not speak of Country, He speaks of Nations A Nation is based on it’s culture, all in all, which includes their belief in the “spiritual”–whoever the spirit.

Dominica is also a Nation with the belief in Jesus, the Son in flesh and bones–Jesus holds the body of Eternal Spirit the Christ of Love and Holiness–His followers are known as Christians in all parts of the world–a Christian Community, City, Town, or Nation, which the whole country.

We are called Christians because we are baptized in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Our Lord’s Name is Jesus Christ. Therefore those who accept him, worship him and follow him are called Christians.
We are not called Christians because of our religion. You have much to learn. You need God’s graces and enlightenment to grasp it and what is contained in the New Testament. This is why I know so much, thanks to http://www.ewtn.com and its affiliates, the various Catholic Radio programs throughout the United States. Right now, as I type this, it is being discussed on Catholic Radio.
I am certain other Christian churches and organizations have done likewise. Those who are on the side of God will do so. They cannot help but speak up. It is their duty to also defend traditional marriage of one man and one woman, as God ordained.

      • July 2, 2015

True Christians – those people who are Christians in the Biblical sense – do not and never will accept same gender “marriages” as true and valid marriages in the sight of God.

Some governments have accepted homosexual “marriages” and others will yet do so. As Christians this does not surprise us, nor does it shake our faith as nation after nation falls. Our Bible tells us “…all these things must come to pass,…” (Matthew 24:6) In fact the Word of God tells us exactly what to expect in the lasts days. “…the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it.” (Matthew 7:13) “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” (Matthew 24 12) Even the “gay revolution” is foretold in the Bible!

The Bible says “….. ….Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot …. …. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man shall be revealed.” (Luke 17:28-30) See also Jude vs. 7.

European Christianity which is practiced mainly in the west today is the root cause of secularism leading to gay and soon to come a normal acceptance of pedophilia. Due to Christians killing and murdering scientists at the stake, inquisition courts, the enslavement and murder of over 21 million Africans which has lasting effects today and the many more atrocities done in the name of Jesus Christ are just few to mention.

These pastors must realize that the bible is no longer fit for today’s world. It has more than out lived its purpose. By using this ridiculous book to defeat the debate against homosexuality is useless – they are so foolish, the Christian world has lost in America, in Europe because no one wants Christianity imposed anymore in their lives – only a few gullible people like sheep who believe in a slaver like King James.

There is no need to argue about history: most heinous acts committed in history always received support from the Church. Other religions are similar and if you carefully observing international affairs and politics, then you can easily see that religion is the instrument of propaganda and indoctrination of people. I think that Church has no moral or ethical rights whatsoever to express any view on people freedom and choices. Proper place of the religion is the graveyard of history…just near dinosaurs. (3) Nobody has he unqualified “right” to have a sexual relationship with anybody he or she wishes. Calling this relationship “love” does not make it “love”. It is usually infatuation or lust, or somewhere in between. To follow your way of thinking to its logical conclusion we would have

As for ‘normal family structure’–huh? Most of early human history’s ‘family structures,’ including your bible’s, contain polygmay–Solomon had 700 wives, according to your holy text. Monogamous marriages were usually no more than patriarchies where men controlled their women like chattel slaves. You are romanticising the past based on a lack of education, which is what 95% of DNO’s commenters also do.

There are people who think they are the opposite gender.

We have one gender “changing” into the opposite gender so they can be their “true selves”.

I have heard of people who “transgendered” and later regretted doing so. I heard of one who later committed suicide. I am sorry about his. No minister of the gospel wants anybody to go through such trauma and pain.

I read a book by a Jesuit priest who was an exorcist. He shared information from case histories and showed how demonic influences cause people to believe what is not true regarding their sexual identity. Did you know there are demons known as “lying spirits”? They are so called because they not only tell lies, they make people believe lies.

A man believes he is John the Baptist.

A 95 pound woman believes she is obese and starves herself to death.

A man believes he is a woman.

A woman believes she is a man.

These people need deliverance through Christ.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill…

      • July 26, 2015

When people cross the line into the dark world of same sex relationships they are opening their souls to demonic influence.

These same people often go on to commit other perverted sex acts. They sometimes become involved in crimes so gruesome and horrific the media hesitates to publish the details.

The Apostle Paul in the first century A.D. described the homosexual community of his day. He said “…their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.”
(Romans 1:21,22.) It is in this darkness the portal opens for demonic spirits enter their minds including lying spirits. This is what convinces a man he is a woman or a woman she is a man. It use to be rare. Now it is a movement. We have people actually getting hormone treatments and surgery to change genders. They are known as transgender people.

Have the others delivered to the desks of your top government leaders. Ask for a reply. Follow this up by phone calls. Don’t hesitate to ask politely but firmly what will be done and when.

Why are you people such hypocrites?

        Jamesd:

I do not know where you received your information from but it is not accurate.

First: Very few pastors own multi-million dollar homes. Those who do worked hard and invested wisely to get what they have. In some cases their home is also their ministry office and work studio. Often it serves as a temporary home to other evangelists and missionaries who are passing through. I personally know hundreds of pastors in Canada and the USA who do not own a home. Often a pastor’s “home” is owned by the church.

Pastors do not own mega-churches. The building is part of a corporation. It is owned by the congregation. All decisions regarding money are made by a board of directors elected by the congregation. These churches support missionaries around the world. Hugh sums of money are spent digging wells, feeding the hungry, caring for orphans, and operating schools and clinics.

The pastor’s personal salary is decided by the board of directors.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald…

Quoting from Scripture will not move you due to your lifestyle and that you have turned your back on God.
Same sex marriage is bad for society. Yes, they impose it on us by also demanding the Court legalize it. It has much to do with taking away our God-given right. It is OK for you to do that but not OK for us to speak up.
St. Paul said, to preach the Gospel at all times, whether it is convenient or inconvenient.” It is a mandate from God. We have no alternative but to do so.

      • July 4, 2015

        Last paragraph.

“…preach the gospel. … … It is a mandate from God.”

        Thank you!

There are those who would like to muzzle us. Some of us have denominational higher ups who want us to chill! “Tone it down a bit” they say. I serve the devil notice it is not going to happen. If I stop writing to DNO I will continue by writing for another media outlet as I have done for over 50 years. So far my writings have appeared in over 40 newspapers and magazines in Canada and the USA.

To my fellow commentators who write from a Biblical perspective I want to send encouragement. Fight the good fight! The Lord Jesus is coming soon. I have read the last chapter of the book. It says we win!

This is fine for those who do NOT want to do these things. Don’t worry. They won’t do them anyway.

But don’t tell me I cannot preach the gospel because Mark 16:15 gives me this right.

Don’t tell me I cannot teach that homosexuality is a sin that will will keep people out of the kingdom of God because 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 and 2 Timothy 4:1-5 give me this right.

And don’t tell Christians living in a democracy and paying taxes not to petition their elected officials to give them laws that are in harmony with the Bible because Matthew 5:13,14 give us this right. Christ tells us we are “the salt of the earth” (to prevent corruption) and “the light of the world” (to dispel darkness).

For nearly 2,000 years church leaders have advised emperors, kings, presidents, and prime ministers regarding the moral issues of the day and requested them to honor the Word of God. Their advice has sometimes been accepted and often spurned.

Are you a Christian, a practicing one or not? What Christian sense do you have? I thought you had a better sense.
God loves his children but God disdain sin. What is being practiced by homosexuals and lesbian is against God and offends him. They suppress God’s Holy Spirit. Since they are hell-bent on practicing this abomination, they should not expect God is pleased.
Those who are genuine Christians and practicing ones at that, who are well-versed in Holy Scripture will know how much God is offended by this and this so-called same sex marriage. They are not in God’s smile. Think of this, if they were to die today, where would their souls end up? It certainly will not be in Heaven. You must use your common sense and good judgment if you have one.

“disappointment with a ruling by the United States Supreme Court which makes same sex-marriage legal across the US and is urging the country to pray that small island states, like Dominica, do not get pressured to do the same.”

If you preach: Thus, saith the Lord, as his words are written in the Bible, to your congregation, and all the so called other preachers do the same, the world of God will change the heart and mind of the people who hears his word!

Your disappointment makes no difference to anybody in America, or any country where homosexuality is accepted and promoted. Fortunately, Dominica is perhaps the only place in the Western Hemisphere to have a sodomy law prohibiting Bull-pooping, or buggering. Even at that the law has not prevented that sort of conduct in the country! Preach God’s words, and he will dot he rest.

They want to get married and will re-define marriage. This is what we Christians of all are angry about. Consider how angrier God is. In time, He will fix that to His and our benefit by eradicating this abomination from the face of the earth.

    • July 3, 2015

The arguments that are used to approve homosexuality are totally blown away by logic and consistency.

What does that leave you? It leaves you without an argument. But the amazing thing is that this does not even bother you because you don ‘t think logic matters and you don’t think being objective has any value.

For example: “Who cares what consenting adults do in their bedroom?” Let’s examine this in the light of logic and see where it leads.

So who cares what a consenting adult brother and sister do in one of their bedrooms :?:

Who cares what a consenting father and adult daughter do in one of their bedrooms :?:

Who cares what a consenting man and his neighbor’s wife do in one of their bedrooms :?:

Who cares what two consenting women and a man – or two consenting men and a woman – do in one of their bedrooms :?:

      Continued … … …

      • July 4, 2015

        Continuation …

Common sense would tell you when it comes to sexual behavior there must be some rules. Sex is so integrated with every other part of our lives there has to be boundaries where what is allowed ends.

This is what separates us from the jungle.

God has given us His moral code to live by in Matthew 19:4-6, 1 Corinthians 6:9,10, 18-20 for our own good. It is not meant to rob us of our joy. These rules are to help us avoid disease, broken hearts, shipwrecked marriages, and many other hurts in life. They are to give us the best life possible.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Ten Facts About Same Sex Marriage http://www.truenews.org/Homosexuality/facts_about_same_sex_marriage.html
    Fact 1 – Homosexual marriage degrades a time-honored institution
Fact 2 – Homosexual marriage would radically redefine marriage to include virtually any sexual behavior
Fact 3 – Homosexual marriage is not a civil rights issue
Fact 4 – Upholding traditional marriage is not “discrimination”

These statements are true. Unfortunately the truth is not what the homosexuals and their advocates are looking for.

They will not be persuaded by logic or reason. If we refer them to the scriptures they say we are using the Bible to spread hate. If we tell them the Bible forbids murder and stealing they have no problem with that because evidently this is not hateful. They will say homosexuality harms no one but these other things do. But if we remind them that homosexuality is the main cause for the spread of AIDS, that it has caused both men and women to leave behind broken hearted marriage partners and children, to suffer mental health issues, develop a problem with alcohol, and some to commit suicide we lose them. Why? Because they cannot follow the logic in that kind of thinking.

Their decisions are not based upon what they know to be right or wrong. Their choices are determined by what gives them pleasure.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Help me understand this… God, even if people have been praying for the opposite result, let the majority of the Judges let this gay marriage thing go through only to have it changed, eventually, because people are going to pray to have it changed? I don’t get it. Why not just prevent it from happening! People are blinded the so called word of “God”. Don’t tell me because he works in mysterious ways!!!

“Their decisions are not based upon what they know to be right or wrong. Their choices are determined by what gives them pleasure”. Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

And since that kind of pleasure will only gratify the flesh it means that it is here today and gone tomorrow. The next thing we will hear is that they are going to the same courts to get a divorce–that is how restless the mind of man is–those with the mind condition, which is alienated to the commands from conscience, where God wants to connect to them

Not one of those ‘facts’ meets the definition of the word ‘fact.’ Those are opinions. Same-sex marriage is obviously a civil rights issue because LGBT people are human beings who are being denied fundamental rights to marry as consenting adults–and that is discrimination. Only a cold-hearted scientifically illiterate person cannot see that.

    • calibishie warrior
      July 1, 2015

Just because you (or somebody else) call something a fact don’t make it so. None of the ‘facts’ listed above are self evidently true and can be argued otherwise by a 5 year old. And linking to an obviously biased website just decreases your credibility rather than enhancing it.
The truth about homosexuality is pretty obvious. Most people are hetero (required for the existence of the spcies) and so have a natural aversion to the act of homsexuality. Cherry picking the bible to justify this involutary response is comforting but unnecesary.
1, in a democracy the rights of minorities MUST be protected from overwhelming majorities,
2, Laws must allow for ALL people to realise their dreams and enjoy their freedoms so long as they are not at the expense of others. It is this principle which dictates against pedophilia as consent is a paramount perequisite for sex.
It is for thse reasons that I am happily willing to bet that same sex marriage will be legit in DA by 2025.

      • July 4, 2015

The prophetical scriptures in the Bible show us that the moral condition on earth will continue to get worst until the end of the present age. (Matthews 24:12) (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Christians know they will not win every battle but eventually they will win the war. When Christ returns He will put every enemy under His feet. “The kingdoms of this world will become the kingdom of our God and his Christ.” “We look for a new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.” (Two quotations from the New Testament.)

God wants us to keep ourselves pure, to preach the gospel, and share what we know about God’s word and his ways with others until Jesus returns.
