A bushfire on Saturday morning had residents of a housing scheme in Chance, Portsmouth on edge as it crept closer to their homes.
DNO understands the fire began around 11:00 am and residents watched horrified as it grew and began inching closer to their homes.
The fire department was called and the blaze was stopped within feet of the homes.
No one was injured but the hill where the fire started was burnt.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
