On Friday morning a number of people gathered at the Castle Bruce Playing Field to witness the first ever International Kite Festival.
The event was organized by Haitian-born Watson Michel and was held in conjunction with the Youth Development Division.
See photos from the event below.

Why was it not held on a holiday weekend. I would have brought my kite. I remember going on my rooftop to fly kites made of plastic and cocoyah. Lots of thread to fly the kite far and high….these were the awesome days. Now the kids are on the ipad and phones….what a thing.
This was indeed a great event – hats off to the Haitian brother and Youth Division. However Minister for Youth Affairs was not present – i guess if Skerrit is not there why should they be there.
This event was a wonderful one – unlike the one (Eat Fish) where Loreen Bannis thought it was appropriate to dress everyone in red. Most persons were not pleased with red – it was promoted as a community event not a political rally – Further dividing the community
It reminds me of the good old days.
Remember that on Goodwill savana
Cool, always remember wanting to fly kites when I was younger now children flying drones LoL
Nice…. But how is this International DNO? i think your headings are sometimes incorrect.
That’s still cool though ..
Participation included kite demonstrations with people from: Canada, USA, Haiti, Bulgaria, and of course Dominica.
Thanks for organizing this event. Fun memories for those of us who grew up flying kite and new ones for the next generation.
Boooyyy that is awesome. i remember there was a kite season when i was growing up. all man had their kite on the goodwill savana flying higgggghhh!
