The Lions and Leo Clubs of Dominica empathizes with all our fellow Dominicans and friends affected by the passing of Tropical Storm Erika and the subsequent inclement weather being experienced in our beautiful nature island. The club has been actively engaged in relief efforts from the start, assisting the Red Cross in collecting Community Damage Assessment data and delivery of relief supplies to various communities.
The Club has since been focusing most of its efforts on the residents of Dubique, sheltered at the Grand Bay Community Centre as a result of damage sustained by their community and on Sunday, September 13, 2013 re-visited them bringing additional assistance and serving a warm Sunday lunch.
The Dubique community is very dear to the Lions as on a regular basis in the past, the club has sought to offer assistance and make regular contributions to the well-being of the triplets who were born in 2009. The club intends to continue its contributions to relief efforts benefitting that community at this time of dire need.
The club is grateful to the Commonwealth Bank, the St. Maarten Medical Centre, Cash Wiz Dominica and Grenada, who eagerly responded to a request for assistance. This enabled the distribution of 25 cartoons of water to those affected in the communities of Mahaut, Massacre and around Roseau. Other distributions of water and clothing took place in the community of Coulibistrie and the shelters at the Grammar School and the Grand Bay Youth Centre.
The Lions Community in District 60 and 63, including clubs in the English and French-speaking Caribbean, have been mobilized in solidarity with the local club.
So far sizeable relief supplies and some financial contributions have been received from clubs in St. Kitts, St. Bathelemy, Martinique, St. Maarten and Grenada, with pledges of support coming from many other clubs. In addition, the International Association of Lions Clubs has approved a Disaster Relief Grant to assist with crucial immediate needs.
The Dominica Lions Club pledges to continue working feverishly in contributing to the general national relief effort and encourages all to ensure safety at all levels.

Excellent Job………….Lions and Leo Clubs of Dominica, I personally never knew that such a club existed in Dominica.
Ok. i commend the volunteers but to me it seems like a photo opportunity because more time is spent photographing vs helping just saying. If someone lift a case of water they take a photo what is that a pai show man.. smh
Well done Leos and Lions! Well appreciated..!
