Thanks to the generousity of the Dominican public, Christmas came a few days early for three (3) families.
With the proceeds of a food drive held on November 28 and December 5, 2009, the Dominica Lions Club was able to prepare and donate six (6) food hampers for families in need around the island. Already receiving their hampers on December 3rd were the Alie family of Mahaut, Winifred Bedford and her mother of Pottersville and a special delivery for the mother of triplets in Dubique.
A donation of food items, clothing and early birthday presents were made to her bringing joy and cheer to the household. Three (3) other families will benefit from that generousity by receiving food hampers in the coming days.
All the items donated were contributed by the public during their regular shopping trips at Astaphan’s, ACS, Whitchurch and Brizee’s Mart and so the Dominica Lions Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the general public for their kind and willing contributions towards this project and also for their support throughout the year and years gone by.
May God continue to bestow his blessing on them for a joyous season and a prosperous 2010 as the club looks forward to the public support and assistance.
