Dominica has been featured in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2017, a collection of the world’s hottest trends, destinations, and experiences for next year.

Dominica is listed fourth and is one of two Caribbean islands to make the list. The other is Bermuda.

Here is what Lonely Planet had to say about Dominica:

“Locals joke that if Christopher Columbus rose from the grave and returned to the Caribbean, Dominica is the only island he would still recognise. One glimpse of its prehistoric ferns and deserted shores, and you’ll see what they mean. For decades, an absence of shiny white beaches has helped keep at bay the resort development that has swept through other parts of the Caribbean. Coconut palms are the only skyscrapers you’ll see here. Visit before Dominica gets its first large-scale chain resorts in 2018, which will pave the way for a new era of tourism.”

Lonely Planet Best in Travel is published annually and it highlights the top ten countries, cities, regions and best value destinations that Lonely Planet’s experts recommend travelers to experience.

Top 10 Countries according to the travel book are:

Canada – Turning 150 in 2017 and making no apologies for it
Colombia – South America’s ultimate comeback kid
Finland – Get ready for parties to celebrate 100 years of independence
Dominica – The Caribbean’s ‘Nature Island’ opens its doors next year with first resorts
Nepal – Witness its road to recovery from the devastating 2015 earthquakes
Bermuda – Eyes will be on this quietly elegant island for the 2017 America’s Cup
Mongolia – Both the rapidly growing capital and nomadic culture are living strong
Oman – Epic sights for such a small nation, and there’s never been a better time to go
Myanmar – Continues to open up to the outside world with political change
Ethiopia – Step back in time in a land of ancient mystery and dramatic mountain

Anybody who believe that crap in the quote above is actually gullible, or simply an idiot! You all had better make certain; because it is probable that they are talking about the Dominican Republic, which is one of the most popular tourist destination in the Caribbean. And I believe if anything close they are talking about the Dominican Republic, and both countries are confused in North America, and Europe!

It is difficult to believe that a country with no International Airport, no Hotels in the country remotely up to International Standards, as a mater of fact no Five Star Hotels, no class places of entertainment, a dirty filthy Roseau, where garbage decaying in the streets, with a repelling stench could ever cause Dominica be whatever the claim.

May somebody paid for that bogus what ever it is, practically a lie!

Good that Dominica has been added to this prestigious list. However when one considers the number one and number two countries on the list,it renders the opening paragraph, about Columbus mute. The reason being that the first and third countries are well developed, which means that development is not antithetical to progress once that development is done in a sensible and sustainable manner. Therefore there is no need for us to remain as undeveloped as we are.

They also need to stop being so rude to white visitors. My friend, Laura, and I were in Roseau last year as visitors from the US when an man ran up behind us and shouted at the top of his voice to a fellow across the street. He knew that this would startle us, but did it anyway. When I complained to him, he just laughed disdainfully.

We visited a beach in Portsmouth near the university. My friend was undressing to take off her wet bikini. A man sauntered up and sat down under a coconut tree nearby. He started talking to us. I asked him to give my friend some privacy as she was undressing. He said that the beach was a public beach and he would stay where he was. I then asked him to leave again. He left but later on started cursing us from a distance and throwing rocks at us.
Then another one of his associates went up to the sea nearby spat and urinated in it in our vision.

A country beset by savages which we will never visit again.

Isle of beauty, isle of splendour,
Isle to all so sweet and fair,
All must surely gaze in wonder
At thy gifts so rich and rare.
      Rivers, valleys, hills and mountains

All these gifts we do extol.
Healthy land, so like all fountains,
Giving cheer that warms the soul.
      Dominica, God hath blest thee
With a clime benign and bright,
Pastures green and flowers of beauty
      Filling all with pure delight,
And a people strong and healthy,
      Full of godly, rev’rent fear.

May we ever seek to praise Thee
For these gifts so rich and rare.
Come ye forward, sons and daughters
      Of this gem beyond compare.
Strive for honor, sons and daughters,
Do the right, be firm, be fair.
Toil with hearts and hands and voices.
We must prosper! Sound the call,
      In which every one rejoices,
