More than 400 people were arrested at the Notting Hill Carnival over the bank holiday weekend and three teenagers were among five people who were stabbed.

Thousands of revellers turned out for the second and final day of the annual street party in west London.

As of 7pm on Monday, Scotland Yard said they had arrested 284 people during the second day of the event. It came after 156 arrests were made on Sunday.

Other offences included public order, sexual offences, grievous bodily harm and actual body harm.

Police also said there were four incidents involving people being stabbed.

Donald Hill, I don’t believe I have ever seen you comment on the debuchery taking place in the churches around the world Dominica included. Did you have anything to say about the pastor so called, who had a 7 yr affair with a lady in his church or the so called evangelist who keeps exulting the corrupt skerritt to the status of a god. You see sir, while I can agree with your view that carnival and other such events do not glorify God, I believe that persons like yourself should also speak out against the very devilish things going on in church.

      Papa Dom:

Thank you for your comment. I will try to apply in an appropriate manner.

      (1) Any article I write or sermon I preach about sin applies to everybody who is guilty including pastors and church leaders because the truth of the Word of God is meant for us all. I have never visited a church in Dominica and don’t know any of their pastors. I don’t know about any specific problems they may have so I cannot address any of them in particular.

However, those of us who serve as pastors, evangelists, etc. are accountable to a bishop or superintendent, and must give an account. If you have proof that a minister of a church leader has committed (or is committing) a serious moral sin you should report it to his superior. Be prepared because you may be asked to appear at a “church court” to give testimony and present evidence. This is not something we take lightly.

        Continued …

If a pastor is found guilty of serious moral misconduct his ministerial credentials may be withdrawn. He is relieved of his duties until he has shown evidence of having repented, and it is obvious he has been restored to the grace of God. This means he is not allowed to preach or conduct services. He is not merely transferred to another church in a different locality.

I have no idea what denomination the pastor you mentioned belonged to. Some men open their own “churches” and since the church is “independent” (without a bishop or superintendent) they can get away with almost anything. Christians with a family will usually look for a church that belongs to a network of churches (known as a denomination) with accountability, one that is better able to minister to their spiritual needs.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Carnival is a wonderful celebration, if celebrated in the proper manner. We know, it is not what you do but how you do it. Sadly, evil people use it for their evil purpose and spoil it, also for others.
When some people are intoxicated, be it on liquor or illegal drugs, they create problems.
The UK police must do a better job of informing the public, prior to the carnival celebration about law and order and that disobedience will not be tolerated. This could reduce these incidents and also eradicate them.
Toronto celebrated Caribana, I did not hear of one incident unless the Media withheld it. However, if there were such incidents we would have heard/read of them. Liquor and weapons are disallowed on the street carnival celebration.
The UK police authorities should learn from Toronto. You must inform the public about the repercussion of misbehavior.
The UK carnival organizers must take note and advise everyone of adhering to the regulations.

I hope that you are simply being sarcastic; otherwise how do you compare 400 arrest at a carnival with whatever could happen in Dominica?

It’s all Caribbean people or people with Caribbean origin . Imagine how many young folks in the UK who’s parents are from down island but they themselves never took the opportunity to even visit their perents home land . Lots of negative issues from the ignorant . Go figure!

Donald Hill, not only Cameron former P.M. of England. Hilary Clinton while serving as secretary of state made similar statement in Trinidad while addressing Caribbean leaders. She said
“The Obama administration will use financial aid against countries that criminalise homosexuality.”
And if that woman becomes president; dog bite us.

    • August 31, 2016

      Thank you J. John-Charles.

I know Obama took a position similar to that of Cameron. It is good to let Dominicans know the dangers they face in the USA and the UK. It is nice to receive financial assistance from larger and better off nations but not at the cost of compromising your values and the moral future of your people.

What appalled me the most was Cameron saying he liked to extend help to small nations because it gave him the opportunity to have a say in their affairs. (These are not his exact words but it is what he meant.) When he said this the man hit an all time low.

Hillary Clinton has her own reasons for condoning homosexuality. For a president to put her out front as secretary of state is a dead giveaway. Between the two of them they have done their best to influence other nations to revoke their anti-gay laws.

It is nice to receive assistance from a larger nation but not at the expense of your values and the moral well being of your people.

      Sincerely, …

Very true. They should arrest them all. Like to see all such activities banned. No more Carnival to glorify satan.

Always a few to spoil it for many.

When they suspend the Parade who is the Black and West Indian Community going to blame? Let those of us who live in London blame the Prime Minister and the Government for the bad behavior of others as they normally do on Talk Radio and other online blogs towards the Government in Dominica.

Dayandnightvision, that is what some would like us to believe by what I hear and I read. For some everyone else is living in an Utopia country except for us in Dominica.

    So sad :!:

    CARNIVAL :!:

It could be a time of celebrating the goodness of God filled with praise and worship, and include the preaching of the gospel. But instead it falls into the wrong hands, and is a time of debauchery.

Because the politicians allow it rather than quarrel with the electorate.

    Parents keep their fingers crossed.

Religious leaders say ”ho hum. What will be will be.”

Carnival opens the door and brings out the worst in people. Why :?: Because it gives people a chance to pursue every carnal pleasure. The Bible says in the last days men will be ”lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God.” (2 Timothy 3:4) In the aftermath so many parents, counselors, priests, and doctors hear the words from messed up teenagers ”It happened during carnival, …” And teens are not the only ones who are left to suffer.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist. (Pastoral Counselor Certificate)

Don, Seems you take pleasure in writing BS, you must be a lover of pleasure more than a lover of God. The day you get caught in your vice, I wonder what will be yr excuse.

There’s over 1 million people attending this parade, its the largest public parade in Europe!

As I’ve seen in Brooklyn, Miami and elsewhere most of the people that act up during these festivities are non Caribbean people and in the case of Caribbean people its misguided criminal minded youth that are not educated on the purpose and history of carnival.
they somehow think its an excuse to act up and disrespect people.
Parents educate your children and if you cant educate them then send them to people who can.

If it makes you feel any better ….

”Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34)

You don’t have to follow Ma England. She has clearly taken a few wrong turns.

It was Cameron who said he would withhold financial assistance to any nation that did not move ahead with ”gay rights”. Later he actually admitted he liked to help poor countries because it gave him the advantage of being able to have a say in their affairs. I could continue but it is too painful. I am of British ancestry.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.
