I heard mr. A. Astaphan on Kairi, criticizing mr. Linton for not pointing out the Worldbank’s finding that Dominica has one of the highest per capita incomes in the Caribbean. He is lucky that mr. Linton didn’t. Given the preponderance of people on low, or no income in Dominica the bank’s report only goes to highlight the disparity in wealth amongst our citizens. Per capita income is the total income of a country divided by the total number of citizens to arrive at an average. In Dominica’s case it demonstrates that there are relatively few people with very high incomes and many more with very little. Not a smart observation Mr. Astaphan, if I may say so.

Correction, Malgraysa: per capita income says nothing about income inequality. It is simply an arithmetic calculation. When economists talk of average income and income inequality, they do not use the simple average (per capita). Instead, the median income is used.

I have been disappointed with the guy who received an award a few weeks ago. Last(2) Thursdays he said on DBS( his old neck of the woods)DNO would be on later that evening at the latest. when did it return TiM?
You gave an explanation. I had a great laugh when a week went by. What you failed to inform us was who was behind the hacking.
It maybe common knowledge or who knows(uncommon) as we do not read& learn.Weren’t we told years ago the Sinos had some reorganiziation done to our communications system in the house and elsewhere? In addition we are yet to learn the contents of the MUO.Sparrow explained Contents in a calypso in the 70’s.
Trust you got the drift people..

Why did Skerrit leave the House as Hon. Linton started speaking and did not return to listen to hear what Lennox had to say? He could not bear to sit to listen to the cold truths and hard facts about his failure as leader?

Maybe just disrespect and bad manners?

    • July 27, 2015

It was not surprising the PM left the house because he knew what was about to happen based on the conversation he had with Linton before he gave his budget.. for the country to move forward both parties have to learn to work together for the people of Dominica, I don’t care what the PM supporter have to say about Linton, I’m interested in moving the country and people forward..

MATT you keep saying Tony A was not impressed with Mr. Linton’s response to the PM budget, Team Dominica UWP is not interested in this man opinion of others like him.. Linton addressed the budget and what it means and the impact it will have on the people and the Island, these guys mean business and it would be good for the PM to team up with them to get things moving..
PM we need to see some changes in your attitude as the leader you have to should some examples, I just cannot understand why you had to leave the House just about the time you knew Mr.Linton was about to respond to the budget that’s…

OK, the PM may have had an emergency or an appointment.
There are times it is not always what you think and negatively.
You must give him the benefit of the doubt rather than criticize him.
Consider this. Linton never loses a moment to attack the PM.
He never has anything kind to say about the PM.
He did not even congratulate him on winning the election.
He does no good justice to the PM.

    • July 28, 2015

I am sure, if the PM was not present during the LOP response, it would have been for a very good reason. Most Dominicans would think the last people who would ever speak of Members of Parliament not in parliament would be the United Workers Party. How many times did the UWP not attended parliament? Are we forgetting the people parliament the UWP created? You may forget, but not the majority of Dominicans including UWP members.

Typical action of small-minded people! Just watched Lennox’ performance on GIS and was very impressed. He had all the figures and facts to tear P.M. Skerrit’s budget delivery to shreds but he did so in a totally professional and factual manner., without any animosity or personal sniping. Skerrit’s team would be well advised to collaborite with Lennox and his team. The country needs unity more than ever, no division, because we are bleeding to death.

No, Fedup; it is a privilege reserved for the members of PARLIAMENT not the PM only. It is so simple to follow and thus avoid unnecessary biases. Hope you get the drift.

You know, once they are aware that it is being aired especially on TV, they could prepare themselves to listen comfortably. Aside from the family, invite a few other relatives and friends to come over, get some soft drinks (hopefully healthy ones), eat some nuts (also healthy) and whatever they so wish and listen-in quietly to the budget speech. Then they could discuss it later. This would be fun.

Don’t worry Skerrit! The day that you dread so much is surely on its way. Remember always that the clock is ticking! I do have faith. I never once thought that the once mighty Sadam Hussaain would be hiding in a septic hole to save his life!!!! You said it, God is good!

If they hear it through the Media, Radio, TV and Internet, how can it be hidden from them? They could also have taped it to listen to later.
You are another critique who never ceases, always accusing and judging the PM.
When will you learn respect for the PM, for authority?
