NYCD gives back to the community

Peter Damier of Grand Soufriere was the first recipient of a care package

The National Youth Council of Dominica (NYCD) has embarked on its giving back to the community initiative dubbed C.A.R.E “Compassionate Assistance Reaching Everyone”.

This seeks to give care packages to senior citizens and single-parent headed families.

The first of these care packages was given to Mr. Peter Damier of Grand Soufriere.

Mr Damier lost both hands due to an accident at a construction site in 2016. Although incapacitated Mr. Damier has a very positive outlook on life and even boast of doing most of his household chores.

This project is being spearheaded by Project Officers Akinia Alleyne and Female CARICOM Youth Ambassador Ms. Annel Lewis. The National Youth Council of Dominica is making a call to everyone seeking to give back to the community.

We are open to discuss areas of mutual interest as we look at opportunities to serve our community.

We also acknowledge the support of the Division of Youth in realizing our goals.

The development of our society is not limited to brick and mortar or roads and bridges but the degree to which we help those in need.

that not the patner from Carib Reserve that think he is roosevelt skerrit? I would like to know what actual programs his council has in store for youth?i believe Mr. Baron is simply using his position to elevate himself into public office because i have not seem much happening to impact the youth on a national scale.

Your mouth is the reason why young people in Dominica or anyone, in general, does anything for or in Dominica or anyone is awarded for their contributions. You all turn it into a political warfare. Encourage the youth to do something better for their country. Wish them well and wish that their their efforts bare fruit.

nonsense. Fella is a Govt croney. what the council should do is push for sporting facilities to develop youth athletics. Then push to have THE ROSEAU PUBLIC LIBRARY renovated or rebuilt to assist the youth with studying and educating themselves. NEXT push to have various trade and business training programs available to the youth. That would be my first start. That is how you begin to represent youth for the youth. I mean happy grandpa got his gift basket. but then what?

Karl Orndem, I agree with you completely. These are agenda that should definitely be pushed (btw, I saw that the library is being moved to a new location). I must ask though? Are you involved in any youth organizations? Hope you are and are actively participating or even encouraging the youth to be involved.
