The parliament building where the OECS Supreme Court was meeting was packed on Friday, when a special court sitting was held to pay tribute to deceased attorney Bernard McDonald Christopher.
Those present included Christopher’s daughter who is a magistrate in St Lucia.
Christopher, a prominent Dominican lawyer, died on April 23 at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) after a brief illness.
Among those present at the “special sitting” were former high court judge Davidson Baptiste who now sits as an appeals court judge, along with resident judges Bernie Stephenson Brooks and Brian Cottle.
The late Don Christopher was described by those present as “a committed legal practitioner” who fought hard for his clients at all times.
President of the Dominica Bar Association, Wynante Adrian Roberts and attorney David Bruney also paid glowing tribute to the late Dominican attorney.
Christopher was expected to be laid to rest on Friday afternoon after a funeral service at the Fatima Catholic church in Newtown.
Condolences go out to the MOTHER of Don’s children Ann-Marie and Kaye, Mrs. Norma Christopher-Tucker, Don’s first wife, who resides in the UK. Well done Mrs T! God be with you and your family at this time. Your girl’s and grand children will miss him greatly. You always brought them up to love him as their father unlike many parents who do the opposite.

This is unbelievable, you know! Members of the legal profession who did not had a kind word to say of Don, who dismissed him as a competent lawyer, are now singing his praise. Ah, magwesay!
The last words I heard from Don was “I prefer to defend a murder case than to defend a BOGGERY case”. That was in light of the gay tourists involved in their nasty bahaviour on the cruise ship. I’ve never felt any prouder in my life, I never thought there were still men, PARTICULARLY men of high standards who still have their dignity,in todays day. REST IN PEACE Don!!!!
