Sale of fake guns causes outrage

An imitation firearm

Several Dominicans have been expressing outrage over the sale of imitation guns on Christmas Eve by several Chinese stores.

Police made it clear that the sale of these fake guns is illegal and a zero tolerance policy would be taken this year. In fact the country’s top cop said that his men would be on patrol to ensure that guns are not sold or purchased.

But exactly how these guns entered the hands of children and some adults is still being questions by authorities and angry parents whose children had purchased them.

“I went into a Chinese store down the road and they took me into a store room where I saw the guns. When I came and ask for a gun the man told me come inside. I followed him all the way at the back of the store and there they were. Guns of all shapes and sizes. I picked one with a deadly laser. That laser powerful. I paid him $70 and he said, ‘when police ask you where you get gun no call Chinese name’. He wrapped in black plastics and I headed home,” one man explained to Dominica News Online.

Another parent said she had filed a police report about a disturbing incident relating to the sale of one of these guns to her underage son.

“My son came home with a gun that almost looked real. When I asked him where he got it he told me is in a Chinese store. I smashed it. He said that I ruined his Christmas but he will have to forgive me because I heard it was illegal to sell them and also import them. What I am trying to understand is how them Chinese even importing them guns when its illegal. Something isn’t right” she pointed out.

The angry mother of two said she had filed a report on the matter and is hoping that police would address it.

DNO will seek comments from the Police Chief Cyril Carette on the matter.

There is a demand for the toy Gun,that is why the Chineese have them selling!!!!!!!

    Parents teach your children!
    Don’t buy them Guns!
Children take no intrest in Guns! Thus, don’t buy them!!!!!!!

THEREFORE THE CHINEESE WILL NOT IMPORT THEM BECAUSE “NO DEMAND,NO SUPPLY!”

It is so sad we still have so many arrogant and ignorant people in Dominica. The Chinese brought the guns in because there is a demand? Really?
You seem to forget that there is a law against what the Chinese are doing. Based on your logic it is also OK to import cocaine and other drugs because there is a demand for those drugs. If you want to reason take the politics out and stand up for what is right and good for our society. Kids can get killed just for carrying a toy gun.
It is the very same partisan politics that we play thus the reason why Boyee was gun down; it is the same politics we play why gun and drug criminals are out on the streets ready to commit other crimes.

Enslaved again. Yes, my people, a new kind of SLAVERY is envelopping our Nature Isle. Foreign relations with any country does not mean foreign domination. The all encompassing clauses in the Agreement signed should be about mutual respect for each others sovereignty, non-interference in domestic politics, mutual aid and Trade.

No right-thinking Govt. claiming to enter relations with a foreign country on behalf of the people, would hide the Memorandum of Understanding from its citizens. Years upon Years of begging and pleading has failed. Therefore, many have concluded that there must be some suspicious things in that MOU, that the people must not know of.

Where is the Freedom of Information? What has happened to our RIGHTS to seek, access, receive, and imparet information according to our Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?

How could a Govt. claim to have done something “good” on our behalf, but refuse to make the MOU available to the public could be informed of t5he kind of relationship with China? Because, on the ground, in reality, Dominicans are being swamped by Chinese business. Chinese construction firms are being awarded contracts now for construction projects that our own local skilled people could do.

We have heard of the Public works area and the interest to purchase for construction of a hotel by Chinese business people. What is wreong with my people? You say nothing?

Are some Dominicans too MENTALLY ENSLAVED to see the path that those in authority have taken the country? Dominican are THIRD CLASS citizens in their own land, Land of Kalinago, the land of Congoree, Balla, Jaco, Pharcelle. What a shame to just stand there and see your country SOLD to the highest bidder.

Toy guns have been sold in DA stores for many many years without much fanfare. This must be a sinister ploy ‘most probably’ fueled by political fear-mongering.

If this is racist STOP IT, Dominica has space for lots more people, we should have nothing to fear from other ethnic groups. However all should be considerate and not sell something harmful, not just the Chinese.

You will be surprised to know what else these chinese folks are selling undercover. They have infiltrated every black neighborhood in the District of Columbia and Maryland to pedal their poisoned goods and will sell you pooop on a plate if you will agree to buy it. If they are able to do this right in the heart of America’s capital don’t you think Dominica is small potatoes for them? In addition they will not buy a single gwen fig from a Dominican farmer to help the economy. Instead they will sit in the back of their roach infested stores and consume salty oodles of noodles from china. Dominicans wise up and stop patronising those folks. They have never done anything but wrecked havoc on the economies of non-suspecting countries big or small and all they leave behind are roaches, rats, and alleys filled with trash while they stuff their money in coffee cans.

Can you imagine that our children are already being poisoned by the use of cheap, lead-based toys that is being purchased to be used by our children in Dominica?

Can you imagine that we are being told that a loan is being used to build the state palace, when this may not be true? This may Where is the evidence by the Government to support that? Why more Dominican are not being employed? This may be part of lthe Memorandum of Understanding to give more chinese more passsports to strip us off our heritage in Dominca.

Lagon in Roseau is almost a Chinatown, with chinese controlling our economy in Dominica. Chinese are destroying Dominican small business owners, because the chinese are supported by the Chinese government to infiltrate and proliferate, vulnerable countries.

IT IS SO EASY TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS UP TO 99%,BECAUSE WE MUST REMEMBER THAT SOME THINGS COME IN ILLIGALLY ALSO BUT TO A LOWER RATE.I REALLY CANT IMAGIN THERE IS A LEADER IN DOMINICA…. 1.SEND THE POLICE TO BUY GUNS FROM THE CHINESE , THEY CAN BE DRESSED LIKE ANY CIVILIAN ,THE PROOF IS IN THEIR HANDS,2. SEND A CHILD ,A VERY YOUNG MAN THEN THE POLICE CAN WAIT OUT SIDE WHERE HE OR SHE STOPS THE CHILD AND AGAIN THE PROOF IS THERE ,BUT MOST IMPORTANT HOW DID THEY GET IT INTO THE COUNTRY?PORTS ,AIRPORTS ,ILLIGAL ENTREES WHICH PEOPLE USUALLY CALL BACK DOOR?WHERE ARE THE WORKERS WHO SHOULD NORMALLY PROTECT THERE COUNTRY AND WHO EVER LIVES THERE.MAKE A LAW THAT WHO EVER IS CAUGHT SELLING ILLIGAL GUNS IF THEY ARE IMMIGRANTS THEY WILL BE DEPORTED WITH THEIR FAMILY AND THEIR MONEY AND BELONGINGS WILL BE SEIZED;IF THE SELLERS ARE DOMINICANS THEY WILL HAVE A HEAVY SUM OF MONEY TO PAY AND AT LEAST 30-50 YEARS IMPRISONMENT IM SURE OUR DOMINICA WILL BE A BETTER AND SAFER PLACE TO LIVE IN.

‘‘The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise they will win and the decent people will lose.’’

:-D Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.

why are the chinese still importing these imitation guuns when a law was imposed against the sale of these toy guns? i believe stiffer penalties should be introduced to the law that was made against these imitation guns. these toys contributes negatively to our children lifes because at an early age, they are already learning to use guns & it is sad to see that some parens are still purchasing them for their children. :(

      IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW!

THERE IS NO LAW IN THIS COUNTRY AGAINST THE CHINESE, BUT DON’T WORRY! IT WILL NOT LAST LONG

IT WILL SOON BE OVER FOR THOSE WHO WILL KILL THE COUNTRY FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL GAIN.

stiffer penalties are a waste of time. the problem is not penalties but prosecution. If you are allowing the item thru your port and on your shelfs then passing laws without action is just plain hypocrisy. Window dressing the issue so as to appease a simplistic populace.

Since at least last year this has been a big issue. Police seem to be selective and only know how to do surveillance on marijuana. Concerned citizens should wise up and just report that the Chinese stores in question have marijuana. Police would find the guns then. Seriously!

Don’t say that too loud lest the chinese get ideas to start planting marijuana. That time they will actually get the cops to guard it for them. :)
