The Ministry of Public Works and Ports is asking motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution on the E. O. Leblanc Highway close to the Youth Training Centre in Dublanc.

This as torrential rain on Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning has resulted in the collapse of the road. That section of the road had collapsed in March.

“Road restoration works are currently ongoing and caution signs have been erected to guide the public,” the ministry said late Thursday afternoon.

Section of the road collapsed between Saturday night, March 12 and Sunday morning, March 13, 2016, due to heavy rains. The road in the area actually began crumbling after the passage of Tropical Storm Erika in August last year.

On April 18, the Government signed a contract with George Excavating & Trucking Services for the rehabilitation of the failed section of the road.

What oh what are these roads made out of, paper?. The government must take into consideration the type of climate we have in Dominica, when it rains it pours and the bloody roads must be built to withstand this, There is water everywhere, streams, rivers overflow. Please build roads as strong as the olden days, these modern roads are just useless.

I believe it’s time for the Dublin people to protest against the construction of the new west bridge until the road in that area is fixed. As a matter of fact the island should be in protest against this bridge until the coast is properly connected as used to be prior to TS Erica. There are many entry ways and exit in and out of the city. West bridge not a priority.

This current gov’t should be charged with criminal negligence if anyone loses his/her life on these roads due to the damage. Since Erika everything was left at a standstill knowing the danger posed to drivers – it was like the country was bankrupt. Now money is flowing like crazy in one constituency in DA just to win an election. Work has commenced on the 4th bridge leading in/out of Roseau when so many other areas are desperately in need of bridges & proper roads.
By the way, when the Chinese were resurfacing or constructing that West Coast road I expressed serious concern about what I saw taking place there as I did not think best practices were employed. Now, there are notable areas where sections of that road appear to be collapsing. Yes, we will blame it on rain but we know that it is both rain and workmanship. With the hurricane season upon us, I pray that the lives of my people will be spared on thes roads. This current administration seems to have its priorities wrong.

I don’t blame the GOVERNMENT I blame the PEOPLE cause they have the CORUPT GOVT, at the helm for much to long, and give the people a chance they will still continue with SKERRIT!

I am deeply concerned about what lies ahead in the upcoming hurricane season. The fear of future storms compounding on the damage Erika left behind. Damage that has been deliberately ignored by the doctor slave master while he seems to be able to have funds to sponsor all types of garbage. A stitch in time saves nine; remember that

No, but his brother heads the Citizenship by Investment Unit for the government and apparently that’s where the big money is these days.

Where are the dangers signs put in place ,visible enough for the public to see that there is danger.Omitting to show or put in place danger signs are the gov’t responsibility…

I just hope there won’t be another storm this year. Bearing in mind that 50% of the infrastructure after Erika is still awaiting repairs or replacement, I believe it would be a disaster for our island. Funny thing though, plenty of money available right now for Skerrit’s propaganda machine but very little money for essential repairs.

Unfortunately we face a real prospect of the road link between Portsmouth and Roseau being cut this hurricane season and the same may happen to the road between Siboli and Soufriere where it has already narrowed to a one-way track.

The government is sinking and breaking down the foundation of the entire country? We have never seen such until this reckless regime was given power by fools.
