WEATHER UPDATE: Unstable weather across Dominica; new tropical wave in Atlantic

Moisture and instability associated with a westward moving tropical wave will continue to spread cloudiness, showers and possible thunderstorms across the region during the next 24 hours, the Dominica Meteorological Service is reporting.

Residents in areas prone to flooding, falling rocks and landslides should continue to exercise caution.

Meanwhile, a tropical wave located in the Central Atlantic accompanied by a surface low pressure system is moving westward at about 24 km/h.

Environmental conditions are conducive for some gradual development to occur.

This system is expected in our area by Saturday.

for rain to stop during ” rabbit fest” the organisers must change the name from “Rabbit Fest” to “Indiginous Meat Fest ” and they will see the difference.

Layou, Portsmouth (it is also below sea level), Mahaut and Massacre flood in heavy rains. All other low lying coastal villages should be cautious. Maybe someone can help with other places

Because of our reckless habits and total disrepect for our environment anywhere and everywhere is prone to flooding these days-especially when we continue to dump our garbage indiscriminately in drains and ravines and rivers-and where we continue to cut trees and build on slopes – well after the rains you will see rubbish and all the flith of the Nature Island. Where that is not prone to flooding is prone to mud slides and landslides- take heed my people lets change our ways of doing things while climate change comes closer to our door steps.

Disaster preparedness is a must in our region. In times like this we should have the necessary first aid kits, dry foods, candles, blankets and bibles ready, also ensure we have a good supply of bottled water. Pray, pray an pray some more. God bless.
