Cancer patients in Dominica are set to benefit from a number of medical supplies made available to the Dominica Cancer Society through the efforts of US-based trauma surgeon, Dr. Dale Dangleben.

The supplies include flanges, pouches, paste, powder, deodorant, barrier wipes, bag clips, ostomy appliances, elastic barrier, strips, liquid adhesive among other items.

Members of the Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) presented the donation to the President of the Society, Kathleen Cornelius, at a ceremony held at the party’s office in Roseau on Wednesday.

“Today for us as a Society we are indeed grateful for the bags we are receiving since many of our members are experiencing difficulties with sourcing bags presently,”
she said.

According to her, the contribution will go a long way and will be greatly appreciated by members.

“I can think of at least eight persons who are going to benefit from this directly and you are going to put a smile on the faces of these individuals,” she stated.

Furthermore, Cornelius pointed out that, “Cancer affects all of us and one life lost to cancer is too many.”

She mentioned also that it is very nice to see another political party come onboard and assist in the fight against cancer.

UWP Senator, Monell Williams said the donation comes at a time when it’s most needed by cancer patients on the island.

“We are happy to make the presentation today,” she said. “This comes at a time, I am sure, when it is most needed. Post Erika these supplies were donated to us and we are happy to pass it over to you so you can continue with the work of supporting the victims of cancer.”

She encouraged the Dominica Cancer Society, that was founded by survivors of Cancer, to continue in its fight against the disease.

On behalf of the UWP Williams sympathizes with those who lost their loved ones to the disease.

“We encourage those who are currently going through the disease and we want to honour the survivors,” she noted.

Tony and Simeon, playing the political game, have criticized the Doctor to the extent that a caller, Marlin 2, had advised listeners of Kairi that they should not use the supplies. I hope the cancer patients in Dominica are not as stupid as the DLP supporters and dump the politics in the garbage bin. Thank you Dr. Dangleben, may the Lord continue to guide and bless you.

“Way to go”, UWP! Even if the Government sends an electrician to receive the medical supplies for PMH, keep it coming. Government guys can always fly overseas when they are ill. The average Dominican can’t do so. Kudos to you guys.

It’s always wise to take note of the expiring dates of those items.

They even have to politicize relief supplies! What a thing!

      You should call GIS and ask them about politicizing everything even when our tax dollars do the work. The renaming of the airport was politicized; the Goodwill/Lindo Park blockage is politicized; the distribution of aid after Erika was politicized;
For 15 years the red bandits used state resources to play politics and buy votes. They sold our passports for political advantage. They said friendly government gave them $32 million to help import foreign and illegal voters. They can manipulate the electoral commission to have more voters than the entire population. UWP was given just one opportunity to present some medical supplies and the red leaches are pissed off.
Red clinic was operated from Roosevelt Skerrit office and Laborats saw no problem.

I think the MEDICAL Society needs to take a more holistic approach to cancer. speak about the causes, the foods, the env, water, materials we use in daily life that can cause cancer. speak about alternative treatments apart from those that pharmaceutical companies and Dr. who are paid to push their products and procedures recommend. There are ways to prevent and CURE completely, not just treat.
