A section of the Roseau River after TS Erika

The Environmental Health Department of the Ministry of Health (MoH) is warning members of the public that they should immediately cease using the Roseau River, from the Bath Estate Bridge to the sea, because that section of the river is contaminated by sewage and other pollutants.

This, according to the Ministry, is due to damaged sewer lines below the Bath Estate Bridge and the Dominica/China Friendship Bridge.

Until further notice, no one should fish, bathe, swim, wash clothes and household utencil or collect water for the washing of vehicles on that section of the river.

The Ministry said DOWASCO is ‘working expeditiously to rectify the problem.
