Higher level institutions urged to train Early Childhood Educators

Dr. Jeffrey Blaize

Assistant Chief Education Officer, Dr. Jeffrey Blaize has called on the higher level institutions in Dominica to place more emphasis on training at the Early Childhood Level.

Speaking at a National Early Childhood Development Symposium held earlier this week, Dr. Blaize said,  “We want to ensure that we have the professionalization of the Early Childhood Sector and this starts with continuous professional growth and development, training for our Early Childhood Educators and certification so that they can establish themselves as professionals.”

He requested that that sort of premium is placed on training and also to ensure that Early Childhood Educators make themselves available to continuous training in the field.

“Because it is only with training and professional growth that we can deliver the service that we expect,” Dr. Blaize stated.

The event was held under the Theme: “My Love, My Home, My Dominica- Building a Resilient Nation Beginning at Early Childhood”.

What about paying more attention for “rape culture” in Dominica whereby young girls are raped by predators even by some who have high ranking positions!

Jeffery, what sort of higher level institutions in Dominica you referring to; about placing more emphasis training on early childhood level?

You politicians are not tired of making fools of yourself? Early childhood training commenced in the home.

Parents have to start by teaching their children discipline, teaching them to first respect their parents and themselves, be obedient to their parent. Unless their parent are completely illiterate, they should kick start  their child’s educational learning!

I did that with my first born son, my junior he could read and write at two years old; If you know McLean Emanuel (King Short Shirt) out of Antigua, I adapted his first born son, and taught him the same as my biological son, by the time they get into kindergarten in the Roman Catholic School in Antigua they simply went through classes.

Internationally the educational system goes from Head-start, to kindergarten, threw primary, secondary, college and University, what can you…

Dr. Blaize, please wake up. We understand your concern and stress, that is the burden seems to fall on you desk and that of ministry. I feel you and your chief are professional enough to pursue and be advocates in running a ministry responsible for ECD. To further pontificate, the supported, external resources yo need to address and champion this cause in Domininca is not there. Your failed PM Skerrit is not intellectual enough to be aware let alone be known of the challenges and disciplines required too adds and manage the ECD Division. As long as Skerrit is this position as a failed PM, you, your ministry, our government and our Island will be going nowhere as far ECD and other matters are concerned.
Stay focus, do you r best, hold fort we need urgently. You are a professional, you will know what to do on the day of election. let us hope it will not ne fraudulent wit massive Dominicans paid to come home to vote. Skerrit must Go, get him out and et us breathe a sigh of new life…

I have perused the programs offered and Dominica State College and I am yet to find any program which offered any kind of certificate or degree in early childhood education, or education on a whole for that matter.
Yet “Assistant Chief Education Officer, Dr. Jeffrey Blaize has called on the higher level institutions in Dominica to place more emphasis on training at the Early Childhood Level.” Go figure. But I do agree with you sir!
Talk is cheap Mr. Blaize, talk is cheap. Let the powers that be put their money where their mouths are young man! Show me where I am wrong please, and you will have my apology forthwith.
