National Football coach Stanton Seraphin was named the valedictorian of the Spring 2015 graduating class of the International Coaching Course (ICC), in Budapest, Hungary.
The diploma program offered by the University of Physical Education in Hungary, is organized by the University’s International Directorate, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee, Olympic Solidarity.
Seraphin, who pursued the course’s sport specialization track of Football, surpassed his course mates and was able to secure 5 out of 5 points for all but one of his courses, leading him to obtain a 4.9 of 5 average.
The International Coaching Course offered at the University of Physical Education-Hungary, is a bi annual course which runs from March to June and September to December, and offers sport specialization tracks in several sporting disciplines.
The intense three-month course is designed to systematically develop the knowledge and skills of coaches and seeks to produce coaches of excellence. The course which is comprised of both theoretical and practical sessions provides intensive training in Coaching Principles, General Conditioning, Sport Physiology, Sport Psychology, Sport Sociology, Sport Therapy and Training Theory. The coaches spanned from England, Brazil, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean.
Seraphin has been a Physical Education and Sport teacher at the Castle Bruce Secondary school for the past seventeen (17) years and has worked closely with the Dominica Football Association (DFA) over the past five (5) years, with various national teams; namely, the Senior Women’s team, the Under-23 and Under-20 Women’s team, the Under-20 and Under-17 Men’s team.
With his passion for, and dedication to sports, especially Football, Seraphin has been actively involved in the development of sports among the youth in his community.
“I am happy that I was able to represent my country well in Hungary. It was a really intense three months, with lots of hard work, but it was all worth it because I was able to make my family, my country and myself proud,” says Seraphin. “I greatly anticipate returning home to make an even greater contribution to Football in my beautiful Dominica,” he continues.
Seraphin pursued the course through a scholarship awarded by the Dominica Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Dominica Football Association.

Congrats, am sure you will now teach what you learn, am hoping people don’t try to block what you would want to see in the sport going forward, I like the way the DFA been showing on progressing, am hoping for a miracle on Thursday night against Canada, lets go boys we are behind you guys win, lose, or draw.
Congratulations Stanton, you gave Dominica a much needed image boost. Also thanks to mr. Glen Etienne. Apart from being the President of the DFA he is also a member of the DOC (Dominica Olympic Committee) Executive, so that made the the arrangements for financing this trip easier
