Grandson of EO Leblanc featured in US Navy newspaper

Edward Israel

The grandson of Dominica’s first premier E.O. Leblanc appears to be making a name for himself in the US Navy.

Edward Israel was recently featured as “Airman in the Spotlight” in a US Navy newspaper.

Israel is an aircraft hydraulic system craft man, maintenance operations and weapons system controller in the navy.

He is based at the US Naval Station ROTA in Spain where he is responsible for planning, reporting and the execution of Air Mobility Command (AMC) Mission transient aircraft in the Joint Navy and Air Force command post at the base air terminal.

A past student of the St. Mary’s Academy, Israel said his most significant accomplishments thus far are coming from the Caribbean island of Dominica, traveling across the United States of America and Europe and being able to start a family.

Israel enlisted in the US Air Force in 2005 and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. He then reported to the Tech school at Sheppard Air Force Base Texas. He moved on to McGuire, Air Force Base in New Jersey and to the Naval Station ROTA in Spain in July 2009, his present location.

Israel is the son of Erin Leblanc and is currently a Staff Sergeant.

I tell you… Some people need to lift their heads from the trash and come up here with the rest of us and breathe some fresh air…
Try it sometime, because that hatred and jealousy is not a good look for you
Why is it so hard to congratulate? Why is it so hard to encourage?
We need to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery….

On a second note..You go Staff Sargent Israel!!! I salute you and respect you for what you do. I pray for your safety and for your family… May God bless you…
Amazing how you remembered your roots…

Norh man, South man, East man, West man. Give me a break. A Dominican is a Dominican. That small talk only applies within the island. 299 sq miles, do we have time to be polarized. Come on people, with such a small population can we afford not to be known one? I appreciate all the Armed Forces. I’ve been married to a soldier for 22 years. I have seen it all. Not everyone can be featured and some people do not like the spotlight. I’m proud of every Dominican who makes us proud. I say i’m a Dominica, period. Go back to the national anthem. All for each and each for all.

The credit goes to his wonderful mother Erin who raised him with great love and discipline. She had the full support from her parents Ethel and Edward as well as her 4 brothers. These men all played a GREAT part in being the Male figure in Eddie’s life.CONGRATS Eddie we are VERY proud of you!! :-P :-D

I’m sure this is a fine young man out of the soldier uniform. But I hate when people praise soldiers especially US soldiers. I mean all of their recent wars were started with lies and deceit. There were schools of innocent kids bombed by the US military, a 14 year old raped and burnt alive by those soldiers and entire family wiped out because some crazy maniac went a shooting spree ‘just because’ he could. I’m not saying that all soldiers are bad but their mission is based on lies. The only people who are soldiers are poor Americans, immigrants on green card who want citizenship for themselves and families and those who just couldn’t cut it in University. No rich man in the military. I believe that the people who hype it up attempt to make these men and women feel important so they won’t noticed they’re just being used by politicians to murder others!

Take your negativity some place else. What do you mean by you hate when people praie Soldiers?

Did you read the story? Its about a native son doing good things.

      Keep your jealousy to yourself.

        August 15, 2012

I’m not certain why you getting all worked up.
What I said is exactly what I meant. Soldiers shouldn’t be praised! They’re not heros. If you take yourself into another man’s territory on a false premise and kill innocent people for the sake of your freedom then you’re not a hero. A hero is human being who for example rescues a child from a burning building. The hero doesn’t set the fire to the building then go running in to rescue people! Got it! Praising a soldier is glorifying war. War isn’t pretty and the last few wars in recent times included thousands of innocent people dead for no good reason.

I don’t care if his a son of the soil or not. It’s his choice to be a soldier. It’s my choice to give an opinion and it’s DNO choice to post it. I didn’t insult the young man and as I said he seems like a great person out of uniform.

Jealousy? Really? There are many different avenues to become successful in these United States. I’ve never for once in my life dreamt of becoming a soldier nor would I ever encourage my child to do so. Life is precious. When you know nothing you are nothing. Only a fool dies for his country. You die and the country and those corrupt politicians who sent you to your death still alive living gloriously. Best Wishes

Kurt Tucholsky : “Soldiers are murderers”

    • August 15, 2012

All them murders in DA are not done by soldiers, how about that, DA have more murderers than those serving in the USA army

I prefer joining the USA /military in any country than to be DA sitting on the road side poisoning myself with coke and alcohol

People committing crime everyday, killing and all the rest and they are not military personnel

Also not everyone joining the military do so for scholarship, there are great men and women who are highly educated, with their PHD in many field joining the military, there are rich people in the military, rich children in the military so saying that the military only accept poor people children who could not afford to go to university this is not true, there are poor people who’s children completed university, some dropped off to join the military,, there are people with their electrical engineers degrees, chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, doctors even lawyers, civil engineers, architects etc joining the military

Some of you Dominicans are just a bunch of hate mongers, envy people, also the military do not recruit people with criminals background, for which many of you in DA would not be qualified, so to all you losers stay in DA and die in drugs and alcohol, the USA military do not need miserable people like some of you, lazy undisciplined bastards

The young man is better off in the military than hanging on the road side dealing drugs, and waiting for people to come to DA on vacation and following them for drinks and begging them for their hard earn money

SO it had to be the grandson of the former premier to be recognized on DNO. There are more DOMINICANS that are serving in the U.S. MILITARY. I wander how much combat experience he has..my guess -NON- Iam also from VIEILE CASE and I was in the ARMY. 3 combat tours in IRAQ and I am currently in AFGAHNISTAN, so is many other DOMINICANS. HONOR them too.

    • Tea
      August 14, 2012

DNO is featuring him because he was featured in the NAVY newspaper. chillax a bit.

    • Hanc Defendemus
      August 14, 2012

Actually, DNO is only stating that this Dominican was officially recognized by the Navy.

So to be fair, I think you should send DNO your official recognition by the Army so it could be posted.

With your outstanding spelling and grammar you must be a top linguist. (wink wink)

    • shame on you!!!
      August 14, 2012

I really find your comment is in poor taste. It seems like you are fishing for praise. Give yourself a pat on the back. We appreciate you too. You can always send your story to DNO, nothing wrong with that.

    • Peaceful
      August 14, 2012

Why didn’t someone send out the news about you? DNO did not make the news. Do not be jealous of the guy – instead tell us of your achievements so we can congratulate you too.
