Belgrave was admitted to the Bar on Wednesday

On October 22, Kishma Cawinda Belgrave nee James, of Pichelin, was admitted to the Dominican Bar at the High Court in Roseau.

She is a former student of the Pichelin Primary School, the Dominica Grammar School and the Westminister Kingsway College in London.

She pursued her legal education, first at the Queen Mary University in London, where she earned her LLB with honors in 2011.

She later pursued the Legal Education Certificate at the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad. She was called to the Bar in Barbados on October 17, 2014.

Belgrave told DNO that she has a passion for the law and was happy to reach the end of one journey and to begin a new one as an attorney in Dominica.

“Being called in Dominica is a big deal for me because it’s my home, it where I was born, it is where I was raised and coming back means a lot to me,” she said.

She said making herself available to the people of Dominica is important to her.

“I look forward to making myself available if needed,” she stated.

She noted that although right now she has no area of specialty, she is keeping herself open to different possibilities.

However, Belgrave revealed that she’s always had a passion for international law and has an interest in some the things that affect CARICOM nationals

She thanked her family and friends who she said have supported her throughout her academic career.

Well done. Congratulations but honestly, do, we need more lawyers in Dominica? I know they will shoot me down but I still ask the question.

    Congratz Ms Belgrave.

While I am proud of your accomplishments I have to ask the reading audience; Does Dominica really need another lawyer?

Young people should be encouraged to go into fields that truly help with nation building such as construction engineering, civil engineering, environmental and sustainability management, urban planning, etc.

Congratulations! You are another model who, specifically the youths of D/ca including those who are presently attending school, college and university should emulate and one to be envied. You have studied hard to achieve your present status. Best wishes and good luck in your new position in Dominica.
