On Sunday June 16, Nicky “Apoye” LaPinnard, of Scotts Head, got a Father’s Day surprise compliments of the Kiwanis Club of Waitukubuli.
Two hampers were donated to the needy man on the day fathers around the world were being honored.
LaPinnard is 80 and is the father of four children, one of whom is dead.
He used to be a gravedigger and fisherman but now he is no longer able to work for a living.
It was on that basis the Club decided to honor him and make him feel special. “We wanted to give a father a donation to make him feel extra special,” President of the Club, Ferney Detouche, said.
Apoye was very grateful for the hampers and said ‘Thank You God’ in creole.
The Club is now organizing a “Moon Light Walk” fundraising event to be held on June 23, 2013 to assist other needy persons. For more information please contact the club at [email protected].

Nice going! That is the love for each other which God wants us to demonstrate.
When we love like that, we put His glory on display as He blesses with more and more ways to share His love with others. Blessings
We need more of that in the country. Proud to see young folks doing charitable work.
Congratulations to all…
